Not cocky at all. If you get into the right mindset on a really long run it is mentally over much faster--mental time compression. If you are looking aheads and hoping to see the finish line the run mentally takes a lot longer--mental time expansion. The same applies to most anything you might do that consists of repetition: assembly line work is one example.
