Irunfar reporting Courtney had an apparent limp at last aid station.
I saw her at the top of the California st. and she looks fine.
If LRC had boots on the ground we would know if the Pixie Ninja is gaining or losing ground on Courtney. Sorry to say, their coverage is mostly just second and third person web news from less than reliable sources and LRC trolls who have never run an ultra. It’s a good thing I’m here to bring some levity and critical insight and analysis.

They aren't new shoes he has never worn, they are fresh shoes. Big difference. He's obviously not going to risk putting on a brand new pair.
Damn
Matt Daniel's starting to go backwards in the standings. Evans' 5 mile split to the river crossing was 6:48 pace like Jim and Jared, moving him ahead of Matt.
Where in the world is Camille Herron (sung to the Carmin SanDiego song). Will she have the will power to leave Foresthill knowing she's gonna have to hike most of it and come in around 24 hours?

Walmsley swapping shoes is odd. You should run in new shoes in a race. Shoes should at least some break in miles to make sure there is not some problem with them. It could also be that Walmsley is having some foot issues and thought swapping shoes was a good idea to fix the problem.
No. In his pre race interview he said he'd switch shoes because it feels good.
Your comment has nothing to do with whether wearing switching to new shoes is a good idea, or bad, It is a bad idea. So, hopefully they were broken in before hand. But, with Walmsley you never know what you are going to get. So, never before run in shoes to run the final 20 miles in seems a distinct possibility for him.
Camille dropped at Michigan Bluff.

Are you certain about that? Are we talking about the same Jim? All bets are off.
... and Camille is now listed as a DNF ....

Nah I think his comment was spot on. This was a smart move. Will pay dividends. Keep your panties on friend.
Green Gate — 79.8m — 04:08pm — 11:08:00 — 08:22 pace
Auburn Lake Trails — 85.2 — 04:56pm — 11:56:00 — 08:24 pace
5.4 miles in 48 minutes. Just under 9 minute pace.

River crossing right before that. Shoes were drenched. Some people just don't mind running them dry.
Getting tired of irunfar trying to diagnose runners feelings, energy levels and health. Just the people run! Well make our own decisions about looks. Can't competitive crews also use these tweets to inform their runner of the other runners state? Seems like insider trading or something.

What's wrong with giving their impressions? I have watched a lot of races as well as run a lot of races. You usually can tell when someone is having a bad day or having a bad patch in a race.
Another 2 minute break. 15 miles to go.
Camille Herron is done.
