What was everyone’s progression in the mile/1600m in high school? It would be interesting to hear.
Mine:
9th grade outdoor:5:49
10th grade indoor:5:14
10th grade outdoor:4:58
Hope to run sub 4:40 in 11th grade

Senior year was an El Niño. Didn’t race very much due to dirt tracks. Don’t think I PRd as focused on 2 mile

You sure sound like one.
This gets asked every week.

4:55
4:47
4:29
4:23 (I also closed in a 61 so could've gone faster)
Freshmen year: 6:09 in baseball, never ran more than a lap on the track before and I never played sports prior.
Sophomore year: 5:24
Junior year: 4:56, found out I'm more of a 5K-10K guy.
Senior Year: Hoping for a 4:40 or less to help in the 2Mile.
10th grade: 4:47
9th grade: 4:55
12th grade: 4:36
11th grade: 4:44
8th grade - 5:55
9th grade - 5:12
10th grade - 4:49
11th grade - 4:51
12th grade - 4:44
Funny enough, I switched from soccer to XC my junior and senior years. That wasn't the issue though; the main thing was probably going from an excellent coach my sophomore year to an inexperienced (to say it kindly "not the best") coach my junior year. I certainly can take some of the blame as well.
It's definitely important for high schoolers to recognize you cannot assume you're going to PB the next year. You don't know how many kids I have heard say "I ran 5:40 last year and 5:10 this year so I'm definitely going to run 4:40 next year."
It doesn't always work like that.
Didn't run the 1600 until Senior year. Here's my 3200 progression:
9th 12:30
10th 11:10
11th 10:37
12th 10:18
1600: 4:47 senior year
Not as fast as all you liars, lol.

Mile Run
9th grade 5:10
10th grade 5:00
11th grade 4:49 twice 10:07 2 mile
12th grade Ran one meet, pneumonia out for the season.
One year in college ran 4:12 for the 1500 (4:32 for mile?)
Lesson: Have a coach who knows what he is doing and have decent hearing!!!
The real question is: What is the progression of mile progression threads on LetsRun?
