Okay, I am old, but I was there. 1981 Illinois High School State Track and Field Finals. Class AA (there were only 2 at the time) 100 meters was won by Wallace Spearmon. That's Wallace SR, folks. Winning time? 9.95. Yes, it was wind aided, but it is still faster than the race run by Matthew Boling that everyone keeps saying is the fastest high school 100 meters ever run under any conditions. Here is the actual link to the IHSA records page, but feel free to look it up on your own to verify!

You have to scroll down to get to the Class AA results. Interesting side note, the Class A 100 winner (and 200 and LJ and TJ) was Mike Conley. Mike Conley SR, that is.
And for the record, even back in 1981, this was automatic timing. It was called "AccuTrack" or something like that, and it printed the results out on Polaroid film pictures after each race. But still legit.
