Only early season in a world champs year, but who gets the bragging rights?

De Grasse had a strong finish last week. I'll go with him
CC is WAY faster than ADG at the moment.
ADG has that light weight, and throws his hands downward that gives him an "easy" sustained speed, but CC is a brute. He has the acceleration, the top end, and enough headroom to ease off a bit in the curve and therefore have some left for the straight.
I will take CC in this one, but ADG is coming on, for sure. Will be interesting to see how each of them runs the race. I guess CC is serious about the 200, so he might be unlikely to use this as just a training run.
ADG could still do well this year. I remember when Lemaitre was delivering mediocre 200 times in 1 or 2 seasons, and ended up medaling at majors, or at least making the final, despite not having a scorching SB.
pretty sure it's night in Ostrava by now. Where's the stream, or who won?
Coleman leading off the bend, then here comes DeGrasse.
Degrasse in 19.98.
The meet comes on at 3pm on the west coast.
In fact, in 2016, CL got bronze in 20.12
His SB was 20.01, yet in that final he beat 5 guys, 4 of whom had faster SB's, including the WL:
19.74 Merritt
19.81 Martina
19.92 Edward
19.97 Gemili
and his semi time of 20.01 was better than other guys with faster SB's who didn't make the final, including:
19.75 Gatlin
19.85 Webb
19.95 NMB
20.00 Brown
and of the remaining guys with better SB's than him, he beat them out in the heats, to qualify for the semi's:
19.96 Rodney
DNS Francis
So 13 guys had better SB's than him, and he beat out 9 of them, Francis DNS, Forte didn't run...and he lost to only Dolt and ADG.
And that uses his SB set IN THE SEMI. I don't remember what his SB was going into the games, but it sure wasn't 20.01.
Plus, ADG is a proven championship performer. The season looks good for him, IMO.
BTW the meet is tomorrow, the 20th.
lol I guess aussiestatman is actually in Oz, where it's the 20th
Hey aussiestatman, what's up with Hale and Quadzilla?
I see Williams signed a sevens contract for Tokyo.
Will be the fastest ever in sevens, I think even faster than Isles.
Is he any good?

A friend’s daughter was at school with him. Played some rugby league. Will get room in sevens and will be gone. Just has to learn how to keep the ball alive for his team in the other 80 possessions a game he may have. He and Hale didn’t have great summers in our athletic season. Both overshadowed by Browning.

lol. The 100 should be fun, too. Simbine, ADG, Baker, the Chinese.

No baker, but belcher, Rodgers, Hyman, and some assorted South Africans

In 7 hours, 40 min if I have worked it out right
Sucks that Baker withdrew, anybody know why? Not good.
ADG is doubling, good for him, why not.
Lots of interesting secondary-type guys in the 100. I will go with Simbine...unless the travel from Boston gets him, I think he takes it. He is unassuming, and sneaky fast. Nothing about his race is outstanding, but he seems to get the job done.
It will be fun to see guys like ADG, Tortu, Bruintjies, Robinson, etc race each other. Cool meet

See the Sydney Classic commentary on Browning's 400m? He told them pre-race it would be 300m of class and 100m of shock.

You're more than welcome to go frequent an Australian running forum instead of American based, if you'd like.

Point taken. I will try to play nicely, Murray.
