LRC Note: We're turning this into the Official 2019 Western States thread. Jim Walmsley and Courtney Dauwalter are both back to defend their crowns.
MF'ing Ryan Sandes, 37 of South Africa.
WSER100 Finishes: Three
2012 2nd Place to Timothy Olson's CR, Ryan ran 15:03:56
2014 5th Place, Ryan ran 15:46:59
2017 1st Place, Winning Time 16:19:37
He's in the race this year again via route of his sponsor.
"What does trail running mean to you?
Trail running has become my life and I see it as more than just a sport and running races. I still want to be that old dude running in the mountains when I am 70 years old." - Ryan Sandes
How do you think Ryan will do at WS100 this year?
On ultra sign up Ryan is ranked 96.66, compared to Jim Walmsley ranked 97.66
Ryan's age grade in ranked 97.48, compared to Jim Walmsley aged ranked 98.25
In 2017 Ryan passed Jim Walmsley (who blew up running well ahead of CR) comfortably and went on to win the race that year with little opposition.
Discus.
My prediction is TOP 5 again. There's nothing saying otherwise. He's only raced one ULTRA this year in February, Tarawera 100k in NZ placing 5th in 8:55:46.
