I’ve been around for a while and enjoy watching the region. I think we all thought Geneseo was going to have a down year last year and while they did at the national meet comparatively they were tough against a RPI team that on paper was better- beating them 2 out of 3 times. This year while RPI may have better track times Geneseo returns the best squad in XC. I ran for a SLU team that was dominant in XC against RPI but every year in track those guys beat us good. RPI is not a XC team, they’re made for the track. I don’t see them beating Geneseo and I actually see TCNJ and SLU challenging them.
Assuming the 15 in your handle is your graduation year, cause that's the last time the above was true. SLU's 4th guy at regionals last year would not have even been on the bus to the meet had he run for RPI. And why is TCNJ even mentioned in this thread? No one cares about a team that finished 13th with a score more than twice SLUs and more than 10x RPI
Well boys, the fun part of the season is behind us and now we have to deal with the crap everyone hates (racing and listening to the coach). How are you feeling?
Congratulations to my dear Dan Moore, dominating the field in this years pickle swallowing contest at The Great New York State Fair. Well deserved!

Hardy Har Har.
Coach Moore is the best coach in the region. You're probably some Plattsburgh or Potsdam wannabe who wasn't allowed to walk on to SUNY G.
SUNY G BELIEVE!
Regional Rankings out tomorrow! We'll see what the coaches say...
SUNY G Believe!
SUNY G BELIEVE BABY! #1 in the preseason rankings! Go Knights!

Who cares. Those rankings are a joke. Brockport third? If Brockport is really the third best team in the region the AR should only take 2 to nationals.
Please keep the Brockport team and community in your thoughts. They just lost their teammate to suicide.
The only region that should take 2 to Nationals is the South. We give them too much confidence and they'll revolt again. The War of Northern Aggression must continue.
In past years, I have been correct with my regional predictions in terms of the amount of teams by region selected for NCAA's in November.
Here is my prediction for this season:
New England: 5
Atlantic: 4
Mid East: 3
South/SE: 2
Central: 5
Midwest: 6
West: 3
Great Lakes: 4
Is anyone doing a real race tomorrow or will it be all bs like last year?
I wouldn't expect any real races until the end of the month at least, Purple Valley and Yellowjacket might be the first real 8ks
XC in September is like NFL preseason.
SUNY G has to be the one of the most overrated and sorry teams out there in the last few years. Let’s take a look shall we?
2016 XC - Hyped up all year just show up to nationals to get bent over
2017 XC - They come into nationals ranked 4th. IGC has a poor race, they end up 11th
2018 XC - LOL. McAneny tried to lead the race and falls off the front pack. Team places 10th
Don’t even get me started about track. The only respectable track runner they’ve had is IGC. McAneny choked the chicken big time outdoors. He ran 3:47 and couldn’t make it out of prelims? SAD!
You’d think based off the way they talk and act they podium every single year

Seems like you are pretty jealous...
SUNY G in 2016 finished 2nd place at the National Championship. Who has ever placed higher than that in the Atlantic Region? That certainly is not an over hype.
In 2017 IGC finished in 6th place. Not exactly bad...Grant O'Connor finished 4th that year and then 23rd last year. Why do you not include him in the over-hype?
In 2018 Geneseo finished a top 10 team. No one was over hyping that team. They finished true to who they had on the roster and in my estimation was not an under performance by any means. No one was hyping them up to be a podium team that year to my knowledge? I believe last year RPI was ranked 2nd going into the National Championship and finished outside the top 10. Again, you do not include RPI in the over-hype...
Seems like RPI can be considered over hyped as well based on your definition.
About track, what other teams have respectable track runners? Grant O'Connor from RPI certainly, but other than that, who based on your standards? Sean McAneny had a great indoor season last year. 8:17 in the 3k and AA. So what if he did not make finals last year in outdoor. That is part of the growing process. He will be back. Gillan Faulker, also from Geneseo, AA in the 800 last indoor season. Outside from these top guys, Geneseo runners are better than most in the region on the track. RPI has some great depth on the track, but are they respectable in your eyes? Geneseo has had very similar times on the track the past few years.
The reality is that both Geneseo and RPI are great teams and seem to be a class above the rest in the region. Nationals is more about execution than it is about anything else. Teams do and do not get in right on the day, especially when there are dozens and dozens of runners, all in similar fitness, competing for the same real estate on the cross country course which can create log jams, pile ups, etc. Happens every year. Teams in the Atlantic Region are not the only ones to have bad days at the National Championship. Happens to all regions. For example, in 2017, Geneseo finished in 11th. Haveford, who was "a lock" for top 3, ranked ahead of Geneseo pretty much all season, finished 8th. Where they over-hyped too? The list can go on and on about "over-hyped" teams.
If you are going to be critical of Geneseo, why not the rest of the region? Again, seems like you are pretty jealous of SUNY G.
Good luck to Geneseo and RPI this fall season, and to the rest of the region as well. I hope the Atlantic Region is well represented at Nationals and performs well too. Should be a fun and exciting season!

Cortland in 2008. They won. You're an idiot.
This is a terrible troll job. Obviously a Geneseo soldier throwing accusations out there to get his own team amped up. No other team in the region is even close to as historically great as Geneseo, and this is coming from a Cortland alum.
You’re right I should be more critical of the entire region. All the teams there are trash! SAD!!
