just fckin run bro it's not that hard
let it rip once a week with a prog run or a tempo or something
do some fkn strides once in a while
you really want to be grinding out 8x800 @ vo2 in 90 degree weather? gtfoh
This made me laugh but I 100% agree & maybe would have put it differently.
What I wouldn't do is try to hammer 6:30 pace every day. Run 7:00 pace, run 7:30, 8:00, or whatever feels good on your easy days. Open it up on strides. If you feel like you need to go fast, do strength stuff. Fast finish long runs, 4-5 mile tempos @ would be half marathon pace, progression runs, etc. Trust your coach. When you get out of college use their principles or don't. There isn't a cookie cutter approach for most runners so I would throw in something faster if you need to once a week or so.
8x8 in 90 degrees is zero fun. Get strong. Come into the fall feeling fresh and let it rip in workouts. Get ready to make some big improvements.
