Overheard a guy bragging he had 10 kids with eight baby-mamas. Wondering how that works because in New York State child support per child is figured at 25% of gross income minus social security tax. And child support laws are taken very seriously here. Every three months there is a local auto auction of vehicles seized for failure to pay child support. Many of these are nicely outfitted work trucks used by contractors. Seems counter productive to take away a key tool for a man's livelihood but it's as much about punishment as trying to get money to the mothers. Anyway that makes me wonder how the guy with 10 kids can get by.
You are just plain WRONG on that. Not sure if you are simply lying or just ignorant (and lying about "knowing" how it works in NY state).
Yes, I was mistaken. I should have double-checked before posting! The 25% figure I had in mind (from long ago) was for TWO children. The correct figure for ONE child is 17% of gross income (minus Medicare and FICA taxes). 25% for two, 29% for three, 31% for four, and 35+% for five or more. Also required is paying for medical insurance plus any out-of-pocket medical expenses. Also, add on a portion of child-care costs. It can total a lot more than 17% of income, even with just one child.
If a man has children with multiple women, wouldn't EACH be entitled to 17% of his income, plus medical coverage?
