1. To get child support she will need to go to court and have parentage established. unless the parties stipulate to parentage, a DNA test would then usually be ordered.
2. Once parentage is legally established, the court would order child support. The father could also request that the court order visitation and could challenge for custody. The child support order would be based on the parents income and amount of time spent with each parent.
So the mother may not be pursuing child support because:
1. She does not want the fathers to be able to pursue a visitation schedule or challenge for custody
2. She believes the dads do not make enough money that any support would be meaningful
3. She is not 100% sure on the parentage of at least one of the kids and doesn't want to risk the test showing her to be incorrect.
4. Filing fees for the parentage case could seem daunting.
