Elite runners don't even double. That should tell you something.
My high school coach required it rarely....we were taught to go balz out for one race, not
running tired in a second race which leads to frustration.
If my athletic.net and my old league meet results are correct, I did it 21 times in high school. Ran 42 races outdoor season my junior year of high school

This.
This event is a quintuple for every finisher. Did it in 2012 (100 degrees at the start, black track surface) and 2016 (a little cooler) and had fun!
I think my best high school quadruple was
LJ 20’8”
100m 11.4
4X100 44.?
800m 2:02
All 1st place in a dual meet

11.4 and 2:02 on the same day? Pretty nasty. What did you split in the mile relay? Must’ve been 48ish, right?
Man, we used to do that all the time at duel meets and invitationals. Had to pull out my training log from my senior year of high school (the only year in HS I kept one).
This one stood out the most (not because of the times):
1:59 (4x8)
4:30 (1600)
2:05 (800, everyone else cut in early)
54.8 (4x4)
My notes say these all took place within 20min but it had to be longer. This was only a 2 team meet with no girls.
The crazy part is that if that wasn't enough, our coach apparently ran us through a workout right after the meet. I did 3 x 500 and 1 x 400. Going through the 400 in 63, 64, 61, 65. We ended up being really competitive that season, surprisingly, and my times ended up being much faster. We did some really crazy stuff training-wise though, off of 25 - 30MPW.

Our team would have a competition for who scored the most points in a given year. I won 3 years in a row.
How many points did you get credited for being on a winning relay team?
In HS - pretty rare for me to quadruple - but when I did (maybe 2x) was 1500/800/400/4x4 - all one-day meets.
In college; never quadrupled in a single day meet (that I can remember); but did quite a few a 2-day meets. Usually, 1500/800/3000SC/4x4
And those usually involved two races of 800s, and 2 races of 4x4s.
I enjoyed the work actually.
I have quadrupled myself, but here is an epic one day quadruple at the 1983 Maryland State High School meet, with an eyewitness account.
Rodney Giles, Northern, 1983 Maryland State Championships (5 hours)
4 x 800 1:46.7 (1st)
1600 4:17.8 (1st)
400 47.8 (1st)
800 1:51.0 (1st)
"1983 Maryland 3A state high school championship meet. I was working as a sports writer at the time and witnessed the most amazing performance I've seen in my 52 years. Northern High School senior Rodney Giles opened the meet by wiping out a 120-yard deficit on the anchor leg of the 2-mile relay with an astonishing split of 1:46.7...When the day was through he also held state titles in the 440 (47.8), 880 (1:51.0) and Mile (4:17.8)."
"Rodney was no fluke. He ran against Brian Jaeger at the Millrose Games Dream Mile prior to his outdoor season and later that summer won the US Junior National 880 title in 1:49. He twice ran 1:48 during that summer (Golden West was one of them)."
"2x state champ in cross country"
Used to quadruple all the time in HS dual meets.
400h - 64 - I did not know how to hurdle so I just jumped over them.
100 - 12.1
800 - 2:08 jog
4x400 - 53.x
I was mainly a mid distance runner but we needed points in the sprints. Surprisingly 12.1 was good enough for 3rd at most dual meets.
That's not allowed here.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
