Glad they love us. Now just keep doing what we order you to do. The man tells you what to do and your little country complies. Don’t upset us. Keep in line little fella.
Until a little country like Vietnam kicks the USA's butt, just like they did to the French and many others before them. You can add Afghanistan to that list as well. Afghanistan kicked out the Soviet Union and the British before them. Now the USA is defeated there as well. Not everybody has to do what they are told to do. It's called standing up to the bully.
Somalia. US got sent home from there after getting their noses bloody trying to impose their will on a lawless nation. That was a disaster for them.

Correct me if im wrong...but American applies to more than just the United States. North and South America makes you American? So Colombians, Venezuelan etc are American also?
Shouldnt it be US Citizen?
That always bugs me when some redneck said 'Merica ...yes like Mexicans are also american in a geographical sense

The us was there to help the un troops stop the Somali warlords from stealing all of the food rations that were coming in to feed the local population. Furthermore, the battle was insanely lopsided in favor of the Americans by any metric, especially kill counts.
Heck, even the Italians were able to concur and colonize the Somalians. That’s saying something.

However, in the end, the Americans (USA for someone who doesn't like the colloquial usage) retreated and sent their troops home. That's right, defeated......again! A few weeks later the UN pulled their troops and the country was left in a lawless state. It's not the fault of the Americans or the UN, but they clearly were not up to the task of imposing their will on this nation. It doesn't really matter if something is lopsided or not. It's the end result. The US was able to kill many more people than the opposing force but in the end, they had victory and the Americans did not.

As for the USA being defeated, it stands to reason. Since the founding of the USA the country has been at war for all but 16 years of its existence. A lot of those wars were against the indigenous people that were living in the USA prior to Europeans first arriving. The US is a violent nation.
