Also, with the hills and hairpin turns, I'm not sure how 13:00 ever happened here. It seems out of this world unlikely.

Lol, what hills? There is literally less than a 2 meter difference between the highest and lowest point on the elite course.

That's not the current course route.

Leading the way will be a 17-time collegiate NCAA champion Edward Cheserek, who graduated from the University of Oregon in 2017. He will be joined by U.S. Olympian Hassan Mead and former World Junior Champion David Bett of Kenya. The men’s field will be chasing the modern “IAAF-recognized” 5k World Record, which was set in Monaco this February by Switzerland’s Julien Wanders with a time of 13:29. The Carlsbad 5000 event record and all-time world 5K best is Sammy Kipketer’s 13:00, which he ran at Carlsbad in 2000 & 2001.
I believe Wanders set that 13:29 less than two weeks after running one of the world's fastest half marathons. He wasn't even close to what he could run. No reason why a world class 5000 runner shouldn't be able to beat that after particularly training for the event.
Anyone know where the live stream is on the Facebook page? Can't find it?

Maybe they should stop changing the course. It would avoid problems.

Both Mead and Cheserek are here. Neither of them seem to be taking the event seriously. Looks to be a sit and kick event. Very weak field. Don't expect anything to happen until 3.5 kilometers.

Can't find it, either. It's not 3pm Eastern yet, though.

Then what is the current course route? That’s the one that’s listed as “Carlsbad 5000 Elite Two Lap Course”.
Is the stream up? I feel like they walked it back & said they'll do updates but the video won't be ready until 3pm pacific. I don't want to know who wins & then watch it 3 hours from now. Why can't they do a live stream if they're gonna have the video anyways?
Am also unable to find the live stream

ditto, no live stream is showing up on fb
Looks like they are going to post videos of the races an hour later (4pm ET) on FB. Bummer not live
Ugh, worse yet. As noted above - race videos won't be available until 6pm ET
We shoot ourselves in the foot all the time in this sport. No Rotterdam Marathon on NBC Gold this morning & one of the best 5k road races out there with King Chez running & no live coverage. They said they were at least going to put splits, I saw them post mile 1 15-20 minutes ago & nothing else after that.
I'm glad this race was saved & they're investing in elites but you gotta make sure people can watch them run! Cherry Blossom and the Runnerspace crew seem to have it figured out. Do people talk to one another in this sport?

First mile was 4:16.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
