Going to bust this myth real quick...let's see a quick list of major accomplishments of the US government:
- most powerful military on the planet (our largest SOCIAL program)
- put a man on moon
- developed and detonated the first A-bomb
- invented the Internet (yes, if the internet were not ever invented by the government you would not have been able to spew your ignorance to tens of people)
The government, it seems, is the bedrock and foundation for US capitalism.
You'll note that many of these are kind of a long time ago. That's because we continue to invest less in government by cutting taxes incrementally.
As we continue to cut taxes, we'll see a continual decline in innovation as capitalism itself doesn't solve problems - rather, it looks for higher profits.
