The more we read about World XC, the more excited we get about it. The course sounds AMAZING.
And the beauty of this year's race is anyone can compete as it is open the public. We tried to entice Edward Cheserek to go a few weeks ago and now want to open it up.
If you are a US pro and have the guts to race World XC next week, email us. We want to fly one US pro out to the meet.
If a Drew Hunter or Paul Chelimo is interested (of Cheserek), we'll fly them out definitely. If it's some pro we've barely heard of, we'll consider it. Our only request is you warmup in the LetsRun.com singlet (you can put your sponsors logo on top of it or cover up the one that is on there).
Heck if you are in Europe and want to compete, we might consider it as well.
So if you are interested, shoot us an email. We don't have a lot of time to get this done.

Looking for a US pro that isn't scared to take on the World's Best. We'll fly you to World XC

You should add some women's names in there. The women are tougher and more likely to take you up on the offer.

re-read the post, he said he'd 'consider it'. -

My neighbors think I'm a pro because I occasionally run doubles. Does that count? Can I go? Please? -
Unfortunately, I don't believe there is a pro in the US that would even be top 20, let alone top 10.
-
Left it a bit late, haven't you? Why not make this invitation 2 or 3 weeks ago?
-
The only US pros worthy of racing punches their tickets in Tally.
Who’s left? Chris Derrick who gave up being a world class XCer to become a hobby jogger marathoner? -
Drew Hunter!
He didn’t qualify for US Indoors but still ran.
Seems about appropriate. -
Just a real shame that our best, or their coaches, don't think it's worthwhile to run this race as if somehow it would either destroy their confidence or destroy their outdoor season. It was just 6 years ago that the U.S. men got 2nd in mud and snow in Poland with, I think, two top ten individual finishes in True and Derrick. There could be cool conditions in Denmark as well, and there will be mud.
-
Let’s send Porter, Virgin, Kempanen, and Shorter.
-
Umm, we are sending the strongest team in years.
That’s why True and Derrick don’t even try -

I ran a 38:20 awhile ago. Take me instead. I'll get a letsrun face tattoo. -
1. Top Americans don’t read your message board and this proves it.
2. Any elite runner would be embarrassed to be associated wit this website and would never accept this invite.
There were several top level athletes disappointed to not make this team. I bet none of them step up for this creeper show. -
Are you putting this out to pro women too or are you basically acknowledging what we already knew? (I do think this is cool btw, just try to think about men & women together instead of immediately making it come across as dude only, imo female runners are doing a lot better connecting with fans and moving the sport forward)
-
Dude, why can’t they have preferences? Are you triggered that easily?
I’m with Rojo on this. You’re allowed to find men’s sports more entertaining, and that does not make you sexist. -
I would think it's to avoid the responsibility of safety if the send a woman over.
-
Such a f*cking shame that our top and their coaches see themselves as above this event. Shelby Houlihan should be racing world cross. Sponsors should be putting in athletes' contracts that if they qualify for major championships they are expected to show up.
-
I guarantee that no sponsored pro will accept your creepy offer.
By the way. The teams leave tomorrow. -
Put up actual money or GTFO. Since when do professionals in any field perform for travel expenses? Call up a top surgeon and tell him that you'll pay for his flight if he performs a procedure for you. You'll get laughed at. And yet here you are making the same requests of professional athletes.
Are you a professional who runs a successful company, or are you a kid running some mickey mouse school paper side project? "I'll pay for your plane ticket" is an offer that I as a private individual with no professional connection to the running world would make to a friend who wanted to run world XC but couldn't afford it, not the kind of offer I'd expect from a company with running/runners at the center of its business.
