Next female may be Aliphine Tuliamuk, 30yo and ranked 271. Her PB of 2.33.18 was run in New York 2017 with 12 women ahead of her.

Here is your man, i have put him 12th. 30yo and ranked 131. As you pointed out, won Marugame this year. Last year was 7th in Boston in the weather [why would anyone go back]. In 2017 ran two 9th's: here under 2.10 then his PB in Amsterdam in 2.08.16. Ran 11th at the last Olympics.

Keep an eye out for Dutchman Abdi Nageeye. “Only” a 2:08 marathoner but recently ran 1:00:24 for the half. Says he’s going for the win. -
I'd like to think Giovanna Epis could finish 12th among the ladies. 30yo and ranked 186. Ran her best time in running 6th in Sevilla last year, 2.29.41. 2017 Amsterdam 9th in 2.32.31, 2016 Frankfurt 11th in 2.35.37. Last 4 years has taken chunks of 3.51, 3.06, and 2.50 off her best marathon time each year. Any upside left?

13th man could well be the current European Champion, Koen Naert. He is 29yo and ramked 119. Won those champs in 2.09.51 [PB]. Two good runs in 2017, here in 2.10.16 then New York in 2.13.21. 2016 represented Belgium at the Olympics then 8th in Frankfurt. The previous year was 7th in Berlin in 2.10.31.

A debut here could be a smokey for a top ten finish among the women. Fabienne Schlumpf in a class steepler stepping up in distance. 28yo, 15th ranked steeplechaser, and 87 as a road runner. Last year was second in the Euro champs at steeple and a quick half at Valencia in 1.10.36 [also was a World Champs, so 15 in front of her]. Her PB at the half was in The Hague in 2017 at 70.17.

Julius Tarus [Kiprono] is ranked 399 and has no year of birth on his IAAF profile. Made his debut in Brussels in 2017 with a distant 3rd in 2.17.04 [winner in 2.11.44]. Ran second in the Canary Islands in 2018 in 2.15.53 then second in Nairobi in a slightly quicker time. This year went back to the Canary Islands to win in 2.12.08. Sounds like a young man who is about to soar or alternately could fall back into oblivion, take your choice.

Natsuki Omari may be my last women's profile here but could be holding as much mystery as the previous man. Omari is 24yo and ranked 98 as a 10000m track runner. Ran her only Marathon in the Osaka ladies race, 8th in 2.29.15. Seems as though she had never competed above 10k before that.

One more with little or no history is Muluneh Bekele Metaferia, or Bekele Muluneh on his IAAF profile with no year of birth. Ranked 232 on the back of two 2018 Chinese marathons 8 weeks apart and no other exposed form. 4th In Changsha in a tick under 2.12 then 2nd in Shenzen in 2.11.19. How do you line that up with marathoners who have close to a decade of experience, sometimes at majors?

4th best marathoner among the women racing here has to be Kellyn Taylor, Kellyn Johnson on her IAAF profile. 32 yo and ranked 152. Like many elites, didn’t finish Boston last year in the wild conditions but stormed back at Grandma’s marathon to win in 2.24.29, a PB by more than 4 minutes. That puts her amongst the top here. In 2017 Kellyn was 13 th in London and 8th in New York. Again enough form to trouble the three ahead of her. 8th at the New York half two weeks ago.
Not running here, but Prague in early May -
istanbul starting in about 15 min, i understand. wonder who wins there, male and female?

10th woman is Elvan Abeylegesse of Turkey who in 2004 broke the 6 and a half year old world record in the 5000m on the track of a Chinese athlete and is still the 12th fastest female all-time [14.24.68] over that trip. Elvan is now 36yo and ranked 263 as a marathoner. Her best half ever was in 2010 at 67.07 and fastest marathon was 2.29.30 in 2013. Last year Abeylegesse finished 5th in Istanbul in 2.32.23. On the subject of Istanbul, if i had known the depth of tomorrow elite fields for the half there, i would have loved delivering some more profiles like this for them.
Do you have a link to the Istanbul Elite Fields? Thank You in advance.
Sorry Douglas, all I have seen is a preview from the IAAF that names 3 or 4 men and women. That is my point. For you and I who are consumed by the race, if we had access to all the info, we could enjoy it all so much more. -
There are quite a few Canadians in Rotterdam looking to make a jump in their times and hopefully hit the WC norm.

Damn..That's why the clock at the homepage is still counting down. I wondered why the speaker said olympic games at Rio in the summer. I'm a fool.
