A little older than avg. Senior ? 19 in June.
Guliyev ran 20.04 just after turning 19 in 2009
Will be interesting to see how fast Boling runs over the next year maybe 20 flat- who knows.

Can he pole vault? Get him out there in the decathlon and he's a world-championship type of guy. He's already good enough in 4 of the events to be competitive at the world level, he looks pretty strong and tall enough to be able to hurdle the highs and hold his own on the throws.
Just looking at all-time Texas prep records, Boling is 12 inches short of the high jump record (7'7"), almost 2 feet short of the long jump record (26-8") and about half a second off the 200 meter record - 20.13. So he has a ways to go but would definitely be a good decathlete.
I'm already sorry that people in this thread are making this about his race instead of his racing.
I thought this was a parody based on the hyperbole in the article quoted above. However, it is not. The kid is just that good. 10.22 wind legal with 20.58, 46 low, 6'7" hj, and 25' long jump make this kid among the better college track prospects in years, comparable to Holloway but not a hurdler. I think that there was also a sprinter/hj'er a number of years ago who was even better in the hj. He may have a future in the open events, but I would not be surprised at all to see him ultimately moved to the decathlon. I used the USATF decathlon calculator to show that he would have about 3663 points after four events with the 100/400/6'7"/25'. 1042 in the 100m is his best score. He'd already be at 1001 in the 400m. As a 400 meter guy, he'd do pretty well at the 1500. The 110m hurdles would be something he could get good at because he is both a sprinter and a jumper. The pole vault depends on speed, strength, and technique. He'd be fine at that with practice. The question would be the throws, and the question is how strong he is or will be. So, it's not unlikely that he would be world class at the decathlon in a few years.

I think height and long stride matter a lot in the 200. Guliyev is at least 6'2". Boling looks short.
TheTruthHurtz what is an NPC? non player character?

True, but thought Boling was 5' 10" he could go 19.80 some day.
Clarence Munyai 5'8" - 19.69
Michael Marsh 5'10"- 19.73
Andre De Grasse 5'9" - 19.80
Ato Bolden 5'9"-19.77
Churandy Martina 5'10"- 19.81
Yohan Blake 5'11" -19.26
Walter Dix 5'9"- 19.53 (same race as Blake) High stride rate 96-97 strides.
Tyson Gay 5'11" - 19.58,
Frankie Fredericks 5'11"- 19.68,
Pietro Mennea 5'11" -19.72
Shawn Crawford 5'11"- 19.79
John Capel 5'11"-19.85
Warren Weir 5'11"-19.84
Ameer Webb 5'11"-19.85

The 19.69 by Munyai is extremely suspicious. First, it should have an asterisk because it was done at altitude, and second, he didn't come close to that again last year. 2nd best being 20.18. Best of 20.10 in 2017. No way the 5'8" midget ran a 19.69.
I'm really impressed, but not sure a 10.2 makes him the best in the nation?
I havent even looked, but isnt that a time that a dozen or so hit every year?
And the 200 time sounds [dare I say?] typical for someone with that kind of 100 speed?
The 400 to me might be his best event [he hasnt run it this year?]
Just looking at his skin color, he might be the next Wariner , who was no slouch in the 200 IIRC
Yet oddly today the 100m is his highest scoring event per the tables.
CN: no idea, I'm impressed, but not sure this is the best HS sprinter in the country right now
interestingly tall height is still an impediment on good sprint times. that is what the statistics say clearly bolt is a one off. the one tall sprinter elite. actually, height has nothing to do with it. speed has everything to do with it. and PEDs.

the reality is that if blake did not get injured and had a clear run with the jamaican vitamin program, there is every chance that he would have the WR in the 100m and 200m.
that is a guy of average height.
so forget completely that you need to be from another planet to get the job done.

Sure, delete it, asterisk - whatever. A 5'10" sprinter is plenty tall enough with the right turnover to go sub 20 or 19.90.

Walter Dix is actually 5’7”
A NPC is a non-player character, it is used to refer to someone who is unable to think objectively, typically a liberal that has been indoctrinated and says the same buzz words (i.e. orange man bad)

I looked.
10.22 would have tied for the #2 HS 100m performer last year. And the one faster runner ran his best time at altitude.
20.58 would have been #3 performer in 2018.
As for all-time, only twelve HS boys have ever run 10.19 legal or faster. That's as deep as TFN's all-time list goes.
Guys, take it from me. One insane triple at a dual meet does not determine how great you will be.
What. A. Stud.
Wow, those are mind-blueing performances. amazing.
He should focus on 400m or 400m hurdles as far as potential goes (white dude)
I hope I’m wrong, but he looks so physically developed already and is this guy gonna run under 10.0 in the 100m?!
Wow

Ummm, it wasn't a dual meet. But, thanks for playing,
retire now kid! wrote:

Wow
He will be a blue chip recruit, for sure, and will have his choice of full scholarships at pretty much any top program he chooses, so long as he's got decent grades and a good attitude.
How he develops of course will depend on many things. I am always skeptical of High School athletes and how they will develop. Look on the high school all-time lists and there are a lot of athletes faster than him whose names you wouldn't recognize, because they never really got any better. for one reason or another. But this kid is definitely promising.
But as far as events, 10.22/20.53 is better than 46.01. I'd stick with short sprints if I were him, unless he ran that 46 flat with no speed endurance, in which case I'd say its worth investigating the 4.
As far as best T&F athlete in the nation, this is where you're clearly fanboying and you sounds like you could be his coach or mom. I think Chloe Cunliffe holds that title for the moment, as she just broke the absolute pole vault record jumping 14'9".
How much faster do we think he can get at the 100m?
Christophe Lemaitre -
9.92 100m
19.80 200m
Before Lemaitre, 70 of 71 of the sprinters who’d run 100 meters in less than 10 seconds had primarily west African ancestry.
Sorry to get into race, but it's relevant here for the 100m.
