Lily Partridge would be the next woman, 28yo, ranked 272. 8th in her PB here last year in 2.29.24 and was 4th in Sevilla the year before in 2.32.10.

20th in my books will be Yohei Suzuki, 24yo and ranked 341. Has already run 3 halfs this year, all under 63 min. Best time last year in Chicago of 2.12,18, coming 12th.
The woman i believe that could be 20th is Charlotte Purdue, 27yo and ranked 193. Ran a PB in Feb in Marugame over the half finishing 4th in 69.46. Was 15th here in 2017 in a PB of 2.29.23. Also 13th that year in the World Champs in a similar time and ran a third marathon in November, 4th in Saitama, taking 2.30.34. Last year had a DNF at the Euro's.
I can't fathom that for the next prospect, 14th and 15th in majors equals an IAAF ranking of 615. Jonny Mellor is 32yo and completed London last year in 2.17.55 and Chicago in 2.16.09. His best time was in 2017 when running 10th in Berlin in 2.12,57.
21st female is Martina Strahl, almost 32yo and ranked 165. Ran personal bests last year in both the half and full marathon, both in Berlin. 7th in the longer version in 2.28.07 and 2nd in the other in 69.29.
Another strange ranking is the bronze medallist at the Comm Games, Robbie Simpson, ranked 1293 for his finishing time of 2.19.36. 27yo, he was 16th here in 2017 in his PB of 2.15.04.
Next woman is Ruth Van Der Meijden, 34yo and ranked 368. Has a PB of 2.31.15 set in Rotterdam 2017. Last year was tenth in Seville in 2.33.27 and 18th at the Euro Champs in 2.35.44.
23rd finisher could be Daniel Chaves da Silva, 30yo and not ranked. He was 18th in 2.13.16 in Valencia last year in his debut, finishing 18th.
Tish Jones is 35yo and not ranked. Her PB was recorded here in 2017, finishing 18th in 2.33.56. In 2016, Jones’ first year of marathonning, she won two South African events in 2.54.04 and 2.36.13.
I have four more prepared and will write them here tomorrow when I have time.
24th place could go to Derlys Ayala of Paraguay. He is 29yo and ranked 330. I don’t know if he was the last finisher at the Rio Olympics, but he was 136th in 2.39.40. His PB is from Buenos Aries last year, 2.13.41, coming 4th, crushed by my favourite marathoner who won with a withering burst. Ayala also performed well at the last world champs with a 2.16.37.
24th woman is Tracy Barlow, 33yo and ranked 312. Ran her PB here in 2017, completing in 2.30.42 behind 15 ladies. This year already has competed in two halfs, at Houston and Barcelona. 9th in last year’s event in 2.32.09 and 15th at the Euros in 2.35.00. Improved her marathon time every year from 2013-17.
25th place could be the American, Colin Leak. 32yo and ranked 622. Ran his best time on a non-legal course in Sacramento last year, 14th in 2.14.44. Best time on a legal course was 2017 Houston, 8th in 2.18.16.
Was happy to be the one to choose three Ethiopians between kipchoge and Farah. But all wrong with the female run, underestimated Kosgei. Onwards and upwards. Next Sunday is Prague.

A bit of a gap in quality after the top 5 women, next is 21yo Roza Dereje. Hard to fathom her being ranked 3 in the world. No objective opinion would rank her there on the strength of a win in Dubai and second in Chicago. Roza won the Barca half marathon last month in 66.01. In August 2017, won Shanghai taking 2.34 off her PB. In October 2016 won two marathons in the month in Denmark and China. Letsrun considered her 2018 to be the 4th best overall, one above Keitany.
Underestimated her, too.
These threads are really good and I hope you keep doing them for future races.

Anytime I see an elite list and have the time

Ninth man to finish, IMO, will be Abraham Kiptum. Ranked 19 as a marathoner and number one in other road runs, brought about by his breaking of the half marathon world record in Valencia last October. Is 29yo and made huge strides at the marathon late in 2017 after he finished 7th in a Chinese marathon running 2.14.38, then smashed that time, finishing 3rd in Amsterdam in 2.05.26. Last year he broke the course record, running 2.06.29, in winning Daegu then crushed that time in December, coming second in Abu Dhabi in 2.04.16, even though the course was measured short afterwards.
How did you do a profile for Abraham Kiptum and not mention his half marathon world record?
too bad for the drug bust lol wrote:

for me, he never took that into marathon performances
