Sudan has had 1 Great 800 Runner and a few other decent athletes.

So it is not like she has ancestors from a running power like Kenya, Ethiopia or Morroco.

I guess Sudanese people can’t trace their family through a name.

She is from South Sudan, which is an entirely different country, you racist.

Can this 600 to 800 Conversion be Real? it says 1:55.3 and Outdoors is faster. I expected maybe mid 1:57 to low 1:58.
And I know at this age she probably does not have the Endurance to run her converted 600 time into a similar 800 time, still

That calculator is garbage, as is MacMillan for shorter distances. Use IAAF tables or WMA calculator. Both agree with mid-1:57.
Just some anecdotal conversions from my son's college team.

Sudan/South Sudan's lack of athletics success has probably a lot more to do with lack of good institutions than lack of talent. Kenya, Ethiopia, and Morocco are all pretty stable countries with solid institutions for nurturing talent, i.e. training facilities, quality coaching, access to agents, etc. Sudan/South Sudan has been ravaged by civil war for decades and therefore has none of these things. People have been more focused on survival than training, presumably, and I doubt they have access to much of anything athletics-related even if they wanted to train.
Ran 2:01.07 today for 5th best indoor collegiate performance.
Responding to some of the year-old posts, Lopez Lmong is originally from Sudan.
She ran a 2:01 800M today at the Ted Nelson Invitational in College Station. Crossed the 400 in 60:00. Had a good relay leg on the 4X400 after that. Off to a solid start to the season.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
