Looks like Rob Krar is running the 50k and NOT racing the Jim Walmsley.
Currently in 2nd place at the first checkpoint.
Krar wussed out.
What's the draw of this HK race? Never heard of it. Seems like a far travel for a weird distance race? Is it mountainous?
Krar bows down.
Chinese ultra scene is exploding. Most have many stairs and are very hilly. This one is flatter and faster. Invite top ultra runners to draw interest.
Krar either sick or injured. Now in 7th place 8 minutes off lead after 17k.
DNF
Walmsley 11 minutes ahead after 49k!!
The Walms CRUSHING the competition. Now over 25 minutes ahead with 5k to go.

Absolutely. They to step up to multi-day racing.
Walmsley just SMOKED!!!!!! the last 6k in 20:22. (5:28 mile pace) to finish as the CHAMPION in 6:05:49.
Congrats to Jim Walmsley on his victory. It seems he outclassed the field. When it comes to runable 50 miles on the trails, it is hard to bet against him - he's the best in the US, and the rest of the world aren't doing many of those. He may need to race some road ultras in Japan to find real competition. That or Comrades.
Anybody know what happened to Krar?
Eric was a good friend back in the trans con days
What is the threshold that separates a "hobbyjogger" from a "sub-elite" runner?
Caitlin Clark thinks she can beat Eagles draft pick Cooper Dejean in 1 on 1
Do "running influencers" harm the competitive nature of the sport?
