Why does the best talent go to NOP? Could it be because it's the best?
No. Salazar had been couching for a decade with little success. Thanks to Phil Knights unlimited budget, lack of corporate oversight, and a clandestine medical lab, Alberto was able to poach the top talent away from established coaches.
There has never been a coach in history who has surrounded himself with so with shady characters.

Schumacher. A lot of Salazar's success came from when he was coaching along with Schumacher, and since then, Bowerman TC has been doing great things with less talented athletes.
Schumacher can only develop women though, the "babes" are doing FAR better than the "bros"

Wetmore is very hit or miss. Maybe it's because he's a college coach so he has a lot more athletes on his plate, but he seems to have a specific system, which is a great system, but not a lot of people respond well to it. His success rate isn't one of the highest around and his system combined with the amount of injuries and lack of resources has to be considered.
I guess in terms of raw coaching, Wetmore might be the best. I think if he had top knotch facilities with access to smoother terrain, but still at altitude with some of the talent NOP/BTC has, his athletes would be world beaters all around. But in his current situation, it's all just a bit of speculation.

Yes, good points. I should’ve mentioned those two. Oh, I also forgot to mention the American GOAT - Mr. Rupp.
It's the poaching, not the coaching wrote:

Ever heard of Aden or Rosa?

You wont be able to, he’s the US GOAT.
You’ve got the Magness Tinman circle j on the other thread but the fact remains nobody comes close to Alberto.
‘Nuff said.
The best are always scrutinized the most. But if we take off our blinders it’s Salazar and then it’s not even close. Farah, Rupp, Goucher’s, Centro, Sifan Hassan, Kejelcha, it goes on and on. They compete on the World Stage. Schumacher has done great but it’s a domestic team that has found a “loophole” with the steeplechase. Imagine Rupp, Hassan Mead, Simpson in Steeple...just as much success. Jerry has done great job though

What makes Salazar special is his unique ability to combine the paranormal with the pharmacological.
If you look closely his runners feet are not actually touching the ground they are floating across the earth with the blessing of Mother Mary.

Wetmore comes close enough, gets multiple athletes close to their lifetime potential every year. And all without anywhere close to the resources AlSal has at his disposal in Beaverton. Plus without sending athletes to shady doctors to manufacture asthma or thyroid medication prescriptions that wouldn't be obtained from almost any other MD.
Wetmore was sending his athletes to Dr. Brown as well. It all came out in the USADA report from Adam Goucher testimony.
My dog is better than that scum sucking conceited egotistical self-centered doping cheating win at all cost monster of a coach !!!!!
Two things...
Salazar is a foreign-born coach, not a real American coach.
And he's now moving away from American athletes as he knows he cant get it done.
Schumacher and Wetmore. This is a dumb thread.
Rob Conner...........Portland University........3rd in recent NCAA XC.......

Pete Julian.
In the last six months Julian has coached Osako to a sub 2:06 marathon and national record, Klosterhalfen to two national records (mile and 3k), and Brazier to 800 American Record. Not to mention coaching Rowbury to American Records in 1500 and 5000.

Agree. Joe Vigil before them.

"Coach" is an outmoded term. "Chemist" would be more appropriate.
Hmmm . . . if a chemist is someone who concocts things in their basement lab they work hard to keep the authorities from finding out about. . . . .
