Coming out of the tunnel.
Coming out of the tunnel.
I'm a long-time Red Sox fan and saw Henderson homer in a hotel room during a business trip. The Sox were down by 1, runner on first and two outs. He had played 40 games for the Sox, batted .196 with 1 HR, but I was praying for one anyway and it happened. It was about 5 minutes before I stopped shouting. It's still the most sheer joy I've experienced from one play in sports. Ironically, my all-time low was 2 weeks later after the wild pitch that tied the score with the Mets before the Buckner error.
Happy birthday Jeff
Secretariat at the preakness. Don't pass on the turn unless your the fastest horse ever. Great thread of happiness.
Take your pick of Lance Armstrong vs. Marco Pantani :

Of all the SportsCentury features that ESPN did, the one on Secretariat may have been my favorite.
PS- the book on Big Red is weird... definitely involves some, er, horseplay. Horse breeding is big business, so they apparently used to go into some detail in describing the act to investors to make sure they got their money's worth.

Derek Jeter's last at bat in Yankee stadium. Great way to cap off a great career. Who says there are no tears in baseball?

Red Sox fan here. Jeter was overrated and had no business playing that year; his WAR was .2.
His double off of Pedro in the 8th inning of game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, was also offensive.
I was there for this and had great seats on the third base side. Final game of the playoff series, Mariners down by a run in the bottom of the 10th, Cora on third (tying run) and Junior on first (go-ahead run), Edgar at the plate. We were just hoping for a sac fly.... And great call by Dave Niehaus. My #1 live sporting moment! Also, it's very possible that this saved baseball in Seattle. New stadium had been voted down just a month earlier, team was considering leaving, and all the excitement gave a boost to a publicly-funded stadium approved by the state legislature, which is now the very awesome Safeco Field.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8SBJzOEcyU

...and I would love to read a brief caption of why you like the clip you posted.
I will start w a dark horse:
https://youtu.be/AlGCfS-F22IMake fun of me all you want, but this is the first time I can remember being moved to tears while watching a sporting event... and anyone who understood the context of the moment will back me up. Fighting thru injury, self-sacrifice for the team, biggest stage in the world... holy cow.
I should add that this was the first time in team history that the Mariners had ever made the playoffs. About 20 years of TERRIBLE teams before this as an expansion team in the 70s. Black Jack McDowell (Yankees ace starter) was the guy on the mound in an all-hands on deck move by the Yankees to win the series. Good times!
Of those posted so far, the Donavon World Cup goal is what I remember most vividly, followed closely by the Lezak relay anchor.
This won’t stand out as it was only a conference tourney game, but it just epitomizes what I love about February and March NCAA hoops. I remember watching it live and afterwards constantly rewatching Kemba making that guy fall down.

Yankee fan here. Jeter was overrated and had no business playing that year. I hated his stupid retirement tour. Don't announce ahead of time, play out your season and retire.
I'm a huge Yankee fan and I still get chills watching this.
Not a big Westbrook fan, but this one gives me chills every time.

Happy birthday, chief.
You share a birthday with my father.
I turned off the radio before this one happened. Didn't want to hear the Sox get swept.
Happy birthday, the Jeff.
I don't really follow motorsports, and I'm sure it's not the best pass ever, but I've watched this clip many times because it's a really nice move. And LOL at one of the comments: "Wow. I must try that pass on my way to work tomorrow."
Easily two of the most transcendent moments of my life:

Not the best video, but it captures the emotions I felt back in 2008.
Then this:

Oh, boy. I waited all my life for that moment.
For sake of recency bias, these were pretty incredible, too:

I stayed up all night to watch those two to completion live. Incredible television.
Shaun White in his final run. Almost brought me to tears.
Forgot to mention this historic moment from these last winter olympic games.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire race, and just couldn't believe my eyes.
