Are the Minnesota Vikings the dumbest franchise in the NFL?

They are up there with the dumbest - instead of spending money on their O-line, they blew it on a QB who has only won 4 games in his career against playoff-bound teams.

Cousins' lameness is exacerbated by the lousy O-line, and he has zero mobility or ability to evade the pass rush.

Not sure I can last yet another season as a Viking fan...been 40+ years.

Detroit Lions are up there for most pathetic.

The Washington Redskins haven't exactly been a model NFL franchise during the tenure of Daniel Snyder as their owner.

Granted he didn't build their god-awful stadium (the previous owner did) that is a homage to greed and revenue over fan experience, but some of their front office decisions have been baffling, let alone their results on the field.

Hate to say it, Cleveland looks to have a better future. This year, they had three losses in overtime -- partly due to a crap kicker who missed field goals. They also only lost by 3 points at New Orleans, one of the best teams this season. If a couple of those overtime games go the other way, they're a playoff team.

Mayfield looks like the real deal, and they'll have him on a rookie contract for four more years. They have other good young players around him. They've got all their high round picks for 2019, plus a third round pick they got from a trade. In addition, they have $80 million in salary cap room to spread around, if they want. So I'd say their future is finally looking pretty good.

I am hopeful that the Browns are on their way back and carry their late season progression into next season. Like the Lions and a few others they have suffered for a long stretch. As a Steeler's fan it is also good to have a hated rival back to a competitive level and see them relevant.

What worries me is if Mayfield will continue developing or drop off drastically like so many other rookie QBs into their 2nd or 3rd years. Defensive coaches study film of the young QBs in the off-season and things are many times much tougher in subsequent years. Think how many recent young QBs looked like sure stars but for whatever reason fell off drastically after one or two years. Mayfield might become a long-term star, or may not. That position is such a crap shoot and so important to the long-term sucess of teams.

And to the topic of the thread: Yes, the direction and decisions of Minnesota would leave me very frustrated as a fan.

The officials also stole a victory from the Browns in the Raider game. Two really bad calls in the last two minutes.

Most of you are not very bright. Therefore you are prone to make inane assertions predicated on the bias and narrow prism which is concomitant with your primitive minds. Mediocrity is the norm regarding NFL franchises and the Vikings and Browns were mediocre this year and any assertions to the contrary are inane. Exaggeratiion is another trait which tends to accompany the limited intellectual horsepower you possess.

Meh. I agree Cousins (who is Jamin’s NFL doppelgänger, BTW) was a stupid investment and this was obvious to many before the Vikings signed him. But Keenum is not a good QB. Maybe if Keenum had stayed in Minn he would’ve been okay but, man, he was awful on Denver this year.

How about them jaguars. They released their top two WRs last offseason. Then they wondered why any QB sucks. Their WR corps is basically Letsrun posters. Honestly, we could be better WRs then the undrafted clowns they found on the street this year.

I could take you through the history of the team, but in a span of 10 years they had 9 top 5 draft picks. All of those players were no longer with the team 3 years later. If I named them you’d say “who’s that” to every name. It’s truly hilarious. One year they took a 6’6 QB top 5 and made him a WR. He was terrible.

You've obviously haven't watched the Bills play the past 30 years.

LOL! Yeah, I’ve heard on the boards that Jamin is not a tall man. But, based on the pics posted on LRC there is some resemblance between these two.

Remember that in 1972 Francis Asbury Tarkenton came back to the Vikings.

They went 7-7 that year and missed the playoffs much like this year.

You can go back and notice that they made 3 more super bowls in the ensuing years.

The Quarterback is important but the supporting cast is even more important.

Last year many Eagles fans were criticizing Doug Pederson the new coach of the Eagles.

Well you are right. Even Zimmer and the GM should admit their foolishness with the Offensive Line.

But anyone can see that Cousins has the talent to win with a top team.

In most places you can point to the top.

GM, Head Coach, Coaching Staff, Owners.

At the high school level it is the head coach and captains but the athletic director can take away your power.

The only bad decisions the Vikings have made is with their offensive line. New leaks may appear in other

areas though as hopefully they patch up the OL. You might have to trade Barr or another top player to get

a good Oline player.

Schedules make a difference. The Bears were really not that good this year. They gained a lot of injury free games

due to that easy schedule. They do have a good running team/defense but their passing should hurt them

in the playoffs.
