The women's 800 is one of the prime doping events for (former) Eastern bloc programs.
What I find abusive, as a high school coach, is the proliferation of inhalers that the athletes use. I always tell the parents, "you know, if they were professional or tested, they would fail a drug test." Too many inhalers for healthy kids.

What region of the country are you talking about? There could be a valid reason. Crap air quality from wood burning. I can barely breathe in some neigborhoods in the winter. Every other house has a wood stove and even the "clean" wood stoves pollute like crazy.
