Exception being those cities that crop up around military bases. Unless you really like tattoo parlors and strip clubs, those are to be avoided.
You may say this means it is overrated if you are not a fan but I view it as confirmation of what most of you don't know.

Not far from Kashmir. Led Zeppelin was dialed into the place.
Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face
Stars fill my dream
I'm a traveler of both time and space
To be where I have been
Sit with elders of the gentle race
This world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait
All will be revealed
Talk in song in tongues of lilting grace
Sounds caress my ear
There are not a word I heard could I relate
Story was quite clear
Oh
Oh
Oh yeah I been flyin'
Love oh ain't no denyin', no
Oh, ooh yea, I been flyin'
Mama, mama, ain't no denyin', no denyin'
All I see turns to brown
As the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand
As I scan this wasted land
Try to find, try to find what I feel
Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace
Like thoughts inside a dream
Heed the path that led me to that place, yellow desert stream
My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon, I will return again
Sure as the dust that floats high in June, when movin' through Kashmir
Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of years
With no provision but an open face, along the straits of fear
Oh
Oh
When I'm on, when I'm on my way, yeah
When I see, when I see the way, you stay-yeah
Tryin' to find, tryin' to find where I been yeah, yeah
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when I'm down
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, well I'm down
Ooh, let me take you there
Depends on what you're looking for in a city, but I was also going to say Milwaukee. While it lacks somewhat in natural beauty (the lake and river are great, but that's it - can't compare to mountains of a Boise or SLC), it has a lot going for it. Accessible downtown, good food, beer has already been mentioned, architectural and cultural diversity, festivals throughout the summer. And it's all reasonably priced. Good times!
the summer is hot AND humid. Yuk!
Tehran. One day when all this foolishness about the West and Iran fades, Terhan will become a vacation destination for westerners. Tehran is basically Denver of the Middle East. There is a budding ski resort industry with very easy access to the mountains from downtown. Tehran has a subway that is as good as any Western capital. People in Tehran are very western looking. Many went to college in the US or Europe. So, there is a great restaurant scene in Tehran with a lot of influences from the French colonial days. And people in Tehran are crazy about coffee. Tehran is loaded with as much history as Rome or Athens as it has been the cross section of the Roman and Ottoman empires as well as ancient civilizations. People in Iran are incredibly friendly and welcoming to tourists. Especially the younger generations want to open Iran up to the west and end the conflicts that have existed since the 79 revolution. Compare that to the 'great' cities like Paris and NY where the locals will bowl you over if you hesitate when the "walk" sign comes on at an intersection.

Kansas City is where it's at! Plenty of places to run, clean and friendly, best BBQ in the world, Chiefs are on fire, etc.

Too bad there is too many overweight loud Trumpers.
The Santa Sleigh car is pretty cool. The Mission area is overrated.

Milwaukee, the source of PBR, is not overrun with PBR? Fascinating.
Milwaukee WAS the source of PBR. It's now based out of Los Angeles.
Well researched snark is funny. Your drivel is just ignorant.

Except Bad air and the whole city ist a big Traffic jam

I googled it and sure enough, PBR is from Milwaukee these days. They left or died years ago but the company (based in LA) started making it in Milwaukee again.
Is "winter" a thing in these places? No-go.
I definitely agree with SLC, but it depends on what you are basing it on. The city itself is okay, so if you are looking for happening night life, then it might not rank super high. But the fact that the mountains are right there, all the outdoor activities, and everything else that the area has to offer is pretty incredible. I'm not Mormon and have lived here for 4 years. It's not the big deal that people seem to think it is.
I am looking forward to that day too. Iran is on my list up high.
Albuquerque, NM ?

Yeah...but the aren't the Mormons always trying to get newcomers to join their church? The last time I visited there they were bird dogging me like crazy!

As a current member of the military I tend to agree, but it depends on the size of the city.
Lakewood, WA (Fort Lewis) - terrible (COPS TV show shot there for years)
Columbus, GA (Fort Benning) - sh!those
San Antonio, TX (Fort Sam Houston) - great town
Colorado Springs, CO (Fort Carson) - amazing
Anchorage, AK (Fort Richardson) - city is pretty good but the surrounding mountains are incredible
Cities near military bases are generally loaded with tattoo places, pay day loan places, strip clubs, pawn shops, etc. It's the result of the mentality and maturity level of most of the enlisted members.
