This whole redundant narrative about "underqualified" female coaches has gotten so out of hand. This is a shining example of why people crap on these boards.
Years of experience does not make you qualified. Some of the dumbest people in the sport I've met have been around for 50+ years. As have some of the best and brightest.
Same goes for young people.
In college I had multiple women as assistant coaches in their first gig who would have been excellent head coaches.
It's almost as if the hiring process is really complicated, and simply ticking a bunch of boxes doesn't accomplish anything.
You can say these hires are for diversity purposes all you want, but these schools aren't going to hire someone who they aren't confident can do the job, regardless of "experience"
I get your point, experience is not always good experience. Plenty of newcomers have educated themselves and are very aware of what works in this business and are capable of stepping in and kicking butt.
But, on the other side of things, there are hires that are for diversity etc.. Have been in this biz long enough to have seen it and been told that we need to hire this type of person and so on. So, the hire is the best person who checks the boxes required, not always the best person of all the applicants.

Kevin Hadsell has a lot of great stuff to contribute to this forum. Women's empowerment isn't one of them.
Really? Is there even one single male on this forum that has spoken up on this besides Kevin? Not one of you are willing to drop your real name and say what Kevin has said? None of you? I’d say he’s more than qualified.
Do you need people like Kevin to speak up on behalf of women? Are you, a strong woman, not able to speak up yourself? Kevin says a few nice things about women and he's applauded on here. Typical reaction whenever a white male tries to act "woke." Why on earth would I ever post my real name on here?
It actually makes perfect sense Roy hired someone like LC. He knows it will take UCONN a couple seasons minimum to build up a distance program capable of competing with Prov, Nova, GTown at the conference level. He hired a female with little experience so he can pay her a small salary and check his title IX box. Look at his men’s teams of the past 10years- clearly they have forgone distance in favor of track results. The big east is realatively weak in sprints/field so that’s where he’s gonna direct his resources. The man is gonna collect a fat director paycheck for the next couple years, aim for a couple indoor and outdoor title bonuses and retire. If LC develops a few conference scorers, that’s icing on the cake for him. If not, it’s pretty obvious he hasn’t cared about a distance team in a long time. Don’t hate the player, hate the game
I don’t think anyone is say that they need to be told nice things. It’s just the only male applauding the hires and seeing the benefit of creating more competition. Add to that he actually uses his own name is commendable. People don’t use their real name because they immediately get attacked no matter what their view. He does have nothing to lose and can use his position of power in the discussions because he swings back and that immediately neutralizes any bashing where the rest of that can’t without getting bashed even more. I kinda wish I was in his position.

Regardless if strong women speak up and stand up for themselves, they are typically seen as self-indulgent and bitchy. That being said, when a man makes the point that women are valuable in professions, such as coaching, it validates the behavior you want these women to have. All professions need the people to say, "I want to hear what she has to say" and "She has good ideas and initiative, she's the one for the job."
This goes for minority applicants and professionals, too.

It is still a hope at this point. Nothing is final that they are moving. They are competing in the American this year regardless.

Women might be right, but when a man says the same thing, even if it's a man who displayed horrible judgment in very serious ways, THEN people will listen. Ladies, got something to say? Be quiet and have a man say it for you.
You are an obsessed stalker, which is one of many reasons why women don't post their names. Sorry not sorry you got your buttons pushed when she put you in your place.

Sure, there may be some hires that are for that purpose, but I think it's doing a major disservice to assume everyone who gets a job and is a minority got it purely for diversity purposes.
You under estimate how prevalent it really is.

I am so deeply disappointed in the LRC for not having more information on Stanford. Just sad folks. You all need to step your game up.

Was he on their site prior to Vince departing or is this Vince's replacement? If so...very under the radar.
