How does this guy get head job he has no recruiting ties in Cali and Barely any coaching experience.

UC Davis, ouch.
Great athlete, but that’s an all-time bad hire. He was volunteering at FSU, didn’t coach or recruit
He’s been the sprint coach at Drake the past 2 years and did a great job there.
Dues were paid I guess... cuz that’s how people get jobs. Right? Where is that dues guy... gotta be around here somewhere with his ledger... dumb Phuk yesteryear coaches
Wow!!! It was rumored that they wanted a female as head coach. This was a curveball for sure.
His entire group consisted of four internationals, 2 of which were transfers. I know he wasn’t there very long, and perhaps he was making in-roads with domestic recruiting, but that is not the UC model. To put it politely, he will be learning ropes of domestic/CA recruiting on the fly.
Newman won't last two years at USC. Why? He's in love with himself and thinks he's smarter than every other person in track & field. That crap won't fly with Coach Smith. Of course, maybe her strong personality will help him understand he's not the greatest of all time.

Florida State connection between Emma Reed and Makusha. Davis now has co-head coaches from the FSU program.

Way to go, Nick!! Make sure your rental agreement lease is no longer than 12 months!
I hope he can coach hj , that young kid they have right now is a stud
Frazier did well at Barton and is a genuinely good dude. Perhaps you should look at the Alabama staff and maybe you will see a possible connection/justification for his hire.

Nobody has mentioned the obvious - he can probably recruit the heck out of juco kids. Why offer scholarships to 18 year olds when you can offer them to 20 year olds who are better?
Having a good juco pipeline can be a gigantic advantage, similar to the New Mexico women having a team full of transfers. Just look what Wadeline Jonathas did this year (although I'm not sure if her previous school is technically a juco).

Bama has definitely added coaches to their staff recently for pipelines. They got a guy who I think volunteer coaches for them who helped get the Kenyan connect.

Wiley is the juco connect for Alabama. Look at how many former South Plains and other juco kids have been on or are on since his arrival....

Interesting. Now does anyone know what's going on at Davis and Santa Barbara?
His social media hasn't changed, and he's posted photos of Cal athletes since the director hiring. Likewise, Shayla wiped her social media of any affiliation with Cal.
