Not sure about Hoare over 10k. (Hope I'm wrong). But I do think Hacker can be top 15-20.
I'm going McDonald (1), Hoare (19), Hacker (20).

They´re gonna choke
I agree with @soupyguy.
BYU rans like sh*t at Nationals last year. You'd assume the coach would correct things this week but he might overthink it and screw it up again this year. must be stressful
It's so hard to get NCAA athletes physically and mentally ready to win in any sport. NAU is just so much better physically, so even if they don't all run perfect races, they should still in because they're just more talented. Truly great athletes have the mental talent to stay cool and perform as they should. That and durability are more valuable than pure physical talent in my mind
but this is ncaa athletics, so there will certainly be unexpected implosions
Blaise Ferro is not finishing in the top 10-15. I do think he's a wildcard that could ice it for them if he has a great day, but I don't think there is big pressure on his shoulders. In fact, it is more likely he's their 6th man on Saturday. I would expect Beamish and Grialva to run solid.
I ran in that 78 race. Rono did not throw in the towel because it was cold. Hell, he won the year before in Spokane when it was 7 degrees - I know as I was there for that one too and Rono was leading in both the false starts.
In 78 in Madison, the entire WSU team started jogging not long into the race. My guess was they had a beef with the coach - Chaplin.
Quite surreal running by the greatest distance runner in the world at that time.
I'm an ex-NJ HS runner who despised CBA. However, it would not surprise me if Blaise was the icing on NAUs cake this year by being their 5th guy coming in the top 20 or 30. I think the other poster may be right - if we see Blaise splitting in the top 25 through 6K and 8K (with 4 other 'jacks in front of him), then it is all over.
Off topic - I sorta wish Hasty was running this year, but I understand the logic of taking a RS while getting used the altitude and college experience. Its scary to think that NAU doesn't really need the best (or top 5 at least) recruit in the country to maintain their dominance. I think they are also recruiting well this year with a few of the best guys.
Wisconsin did well in the 1978 race on their home course when it was snowing. Could be another upset.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
