LancRunner - The ladder went well!
Stat - Yeah that looks like Lydiard to me, I always feel like the building mileage phase should be longer but never seem to have the time for it. I did a decent job '17 summer with a Lydiard build up but would not say my '18 summer was like it. I will try to go into spring with a similar build up as you describe (not sure what race/distance i will focus on, will worry about that on sunday afternoon). But again, I like the descriptions
Allen1959 - best of luck
pewow - I have been an off again on again coffee addict for years, it is upsetting that it has this unfortunate side effect. I will likely continue to have it now and then but will have to set a serious frequency barrier rather then the lax one that didnt work..
as for your winter/spring, my gut reaction is that it seems very long and you (or anybody) will not be able to have good performances over that period of time racing
stat - two of the club guys already failed at taking my 0.5mi segment around campus (from LancR orignially), I am sure you can get those. You should take the one OU took from me on the clayton mile, I had a 5:20 and he took it with a sub 5mile
Still Improving/OR - my gf got her knee checked out, scheduled an MRI but they think its a bone bruise from a fall over the summer. SI - sometimes its better to take time off and get it healed rather than train at a sub optimal level
Bruin1996 - great race, I hope to have a similar experience!
OR - GoodLuck, set a high standard for me, hope that knee holds up. My friend will likely be wearing a F&M Track Club singlet (blue) at Richmond, he is shooting for around 2:40-2:45.
slo-twitch/other Philly half or full runners - that same singlet (above) you may see a few guys running in for the full and half marathons (and maybe 8k).
Thanks all for the encouragement. Last week I had to separate the objective and subjective thinking, I knew that I felt like crap and I knew that I couldnt have lost much fitness, but after running tuesday (in my new Nike Streak 6's I got for the race) and wednesday I have once again combined the objective/subjective and realize that I am ready for Sunday. I talked to a guy who will be shooting for the same time as me, our plan is to try to hit 6:20 for the first mile then hit anywhere between 6:10 and 6:20 for the rest, while aiming for 1:22 HM spli, at 20mi we will evaluate and try to progress it in. I am aware of two finishers from last year racing (2:51 2:37) again, there is an offchance I could win this thing but I am afraid to go in with that mentality and blow up. I know I can suffer but I havent for an extended period since breaking 60 in a 10M last fall off of suboptimal training. slight ankle roll on yesterday's run which is sore, going to do a light workout today, two easy runs Fri/Su then its go time.
