Jeff can I politely ask if your MP is faster or slower than 7:00 pace? Because maybe that explains our difference taste in shoes somewhat, I do realize that since your size is nearly twice mine that weight becomes critical for you with all that extra foam
Anyways in an attempt to salvage these, I ripped out the permanent insole because it was giving me blisters anyway, so I could use my new balance zante insoles which are my favorite in all my other shoes (napali, adios, etc.)
Now that changed the personality somewhat, just a tiny bit but enough to notice. Since the insole has a tiny bit of stiffness it seems to prevent the shoe from bending as much (it bends A LOT) and reduced the mushiness a tiny bit.
Discovered why there was a 5 grams difference between the shoes, one insole had a lot more glue than the other, that wonderful made-in-china consistency.
The weight penalty for the insole change was 5.85 to 6.0 ounces, so now unfortunately there are only 1.2 ounces away from an Adios which might negate any benefit and I still think the Adios is a way better shoe.
I'll insist again there is nothing special about these shoes, they aren't terrible but any performance claims are definitely hype.
