Will he get Meb's Master record of 2:12:11?

https://www.flotrack.org/events/6239218-2018-tcs-new-york-city-marathon/videos?playing=6261504&limit=6043-year-old track legend Bernard Lagat is making his highly anticipated marathon debut in New York with a big goal: to break Meb Keflezighi’s U.S. masters record of 2:12:21.
Completely agree. Could not have said it better.
NYC is not an easy course and it is his first marathon, so it will be tough. I think he will fall a bit short, but that the record will be his by 2020.
I would bet both of my ball for OVER. Predicting 2:15.
I think 2:13:55 or 2:14 something.
2:14 and the obligatory post race comment of it being harder than he thought.
This might be his first marathon, but it isn't his first rodeo. He's Bernard Lagat. He knows exactly what his fitness is. If he says he's going for the record, he's going for the record.
I say he runs 5:00 pace, and flirts with breaking 2:11.

Yeah under 2:15 would be great for Bernie
Under by a few seconds
My most favorite memory of Bernard was racing Bekele in 2009 for silver. Them last 2k were epic as fukk. I was I had a time machine. I would go back and be there. I miss them days. I predict 2:12 since it is not an easy course. He could potentially go sub 2:10 if he done Berlin or Chicago or London. From 1993-2009 were the best years on track from Geb to Bekele. Now there is some new drug in the market there are dopers trying to be as good as Geb, Bekele, Tadese, Bernard, Boniface etc. They will never be as good as them and I hope the IAAF put a stop to them.

i agree. not to forget that his coach james li believes in the success. i have read about his build up. typical week at altitude in flagstaff: 70-75mpw, 8 sessions (usually 6). long runs: first about 18 miles, second: 20, third: 22; longest run 24 miles plus one mile cool down. tempo runs: 8 mile warm up at 6min mile pace, followed by 10 miles at 5min mile pace.
it may be that he needed more long runs to stabilize that. on the other hand he ran 62:00 in houston in january and started at the half marathon championships in the late summer, so he has at least a full year real long distance training on the account.
Pardon my admonishment, but you don't know the mindset of a world class runner?
I'm predicting, he may break that 2:07 barrier, Bernard Lagat... one of the finest.
Who knows how well the man has aged? We'll see.
Good luck to him and his team.
AND best of luck to all the runners in the New York, hope you all break your PR's, within
reason but for godsake's do not quit!
Love you all, I'd give you all a nice big kiss on the lips.
Good luck, will be watching his legendary race.
Blows up big league, 2:20.
He’ll get the masters record.

Triggered by a comment on an over the hill doper? Low threshold, dude. Better toughen up.
