It's really not that crazy when you think about it. I'd assume you were undertrained in HS so therefore, Increased aerobic system = faster mile time. My freshman year in college I PR'd in the mile in December off 8k XC fitness

Been dealing with hip soreness/pain.
Whenever I push off I feel discomfort and it made me have to stop a few times to stretch.
Thursday's workout was awesome.
I really need help with this hip thing, for people who have had hip problems, what can I do to help it? I'm worried it might get worse.
Currently I'm foam rolling, ball rolling, and stretching.
You increased the mileage relatively quickly, have you made jumps like that safely in the past?
For hips I like to do mobility exercises from time to time.

Yes I have made much larger jumps in the past, and they did go well.
Had a decent workout yesterday considering it was 28 degrees out and I was alone (as per usual)
Hip is doing a bit better, going to continue resting it.
5x200, 2:30 rest,
followed by
5x400 3:15 rest
200 average: 29.17
400 average: 63.69
closed last rep in 60 flat.
With a 8x400 at 62.8 last week and this workout feeling optimistic.
This Friday I'm running an indoor mile, any predictions?
4:26
Your workouts have been pretty fast, but it is still quite early in the season.
I think your coach and I would but heads on training philosophy.
I predict 4:20-4:25.
Ran a 4:18.95. Even split the race with a 65,64,65,64. Should have closed harder but otherwise it was a good day. Every race last season I closed in a 58-60 in the 1500, so my speed needs a bit of work. New PR for the full mile
Hey, nice job OP!

Glad to close in sub 60. Longest 400 workout at mile pace I have ever done. Really happy about the result though.
63.6 average
Wish I had people to do my workouts with, this workout solo was royally difficult!
Why does this thread even exist. Go do your homework, kid.

Sunday - Off, rested
Total Mileage - 33.14
Hello BearCat! Can you explain what numbers like 6.1 and 5.1 mean? I don’t understand thank you!
Oh you’re running just a little more than an even number of miles. Perhaps it’s the trail you’re on? Got it.
In my opinion you are running your non workout days consistently too fast.
The mileage for the past 3 weeks have been
60.5
60.2
59.0.
One of my stronger efforts included
12x400, 3:15 rest (400 jog included) with an average of 61.3, closing in a 58.3
Probably my strongest workout of my life so far also occurred. (yay!)
400, 8x500, 400 (3:15 rest after 400s, 4:00 rest after 500s)
61
77, 77,76,77,74,75,76,76
59
which comes out to an average of 60.6 per 400.
I have a race (maybe 2) coming up this weekend. Running the mile for sure and maybe the DMR.
A decent sized PR is very possible!

It would be great if you ran a big PR, but even if you don’t you should be satisfied that you’ve been running great workouts and you’re in great shape. You’re definitely ready to PR, but I’d try to just focus on racing and let the PRs come naturally. Good luck!
Bump. Where did you go? this thread was getting pretty interesting
Rest of track season went decent:
Ran 3:57 twice,
Ran 3:56.22 for a new PR.
Been dealing with a piriformis injury that will not go away!
Didn't get to go to the conference meet because of said injury and am just trying to get healthy so I can start training for XC.
Will update this thread once I resume running!
