I know there are so many posts on this website about stress reactions/fractures, but each case is individual so I thought I'd post my symptoms. I'll try to keep it short.
For about a week and a half to two weeks I have felt a dull pain in my left posterior tibia. It has perhaps hurt more often in the past few days, but the severity of the pain has not increased much. I'll post a list of my own diagnosis from the past couple days. I have taken today off.
-Feel the dull pain in beginning of run, but it subsides as the run goes on
-I feel the pain when I walk around sometimes and feel the pain in my bed when I wake up
However:
-I pass the hop test with no extra pain
-My tibia is not tender to the touch. I have to push to find the somewhat localized area of pain and even then the pain isn't too severe unless I apply considerable pressure. Just running my finger along the area does not induce any pain.
Over the summer I ran around 50mpw on mostly trails/grass and since my college doesn't have many close by trails I have been running on mostly concrete/asphalt. I know this could be what is causing my pain. I want to see a doctor about this but I don't have great access to a specialist at college. I'd like to see what you guys think based on my two sides of the diagnosis since I don't have some symptoms that many individuals with stress reactions/fractures seem to have. Should I take a few days off and then resume and try to run on grass only? If you think it is a stress reaction or fracture, how much time should I take off as it seems I have hopefully caught whatever this is early? I know there are so many threads on this subject, but I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read. Thank you.
