I think it could happen, and probably will happen this year.

I was thinking as soon as Sunday would be the chance.

I'll take those odds.
Well Rupp AND Erick Kpitanui pulled out, those 2 would have had an outside chance (Longshot) of getting it, the odds are always against a World Record, though Kipchoge has a very good chance in Berlin.
World record in the marathon chances: 50%
World record in the half marathon chances: 85%

I am not much of a gambler. Would your % equate to a 17/40 chance of both records being broken the same day? I would like to bet the "no" on that.

I think it will be a 75% chance that both records will be broken.
It is obviously 25%. 50% chance for marathon, either they will or they won't, thus 50%. 50% chance for half, either they will or they won't, thus 50%.
Using basic stats:
50% x 50% = .50 x .50
.50 x .50 = .25
.25 = 25%
Slim and none, and slim just left the building.
Confuzzled, it's pure nonsens. There's not always 50% chance something will happen.

+100000
Odds: decent.
Odds of either one being clean: ZERO.

you think rupp could break the half marathon world record right now?
why do you think that?
4:27 pace for 13.1 miles (27:40 10,000m pace)
please explain.

No, it wouldn't, because they're not independent events. Kipchoge could easily break the second on the way to breaking the first. Thus if the HM goes, the full is slightly more likely to go too.
I think he could go maybe 58 flat/61 for a 1:59.xx
Sheeez, ain't no way Rupp ever gonna get close to the world record - not even bouncing along in dose stupid pogo stick shoes...

I said longshot 26:44 for 10000 and a VERY good marathoner (Top 3-5 in World)
