There is no sign that Jakob is anywhere near his peak yet.
True he only improved his 1500m pb by 1 second this year, but that's misleading because he was surely going to run sub 3:29 at Monaco this year if Tim hadn't decided to slow it down. His fastest time last year outside of Monaco was 3:27. By contrast, this year he ran under 3:32 five times.
He just finished fifth in the 5000m and fourth in the 1500m (despite being clearly tired and bruised from his earlier efforts), and people are writing him off. He turned 19 two weeks ago. Crazy.
I predict with confidence he will be a consistent sub 3:30 sub 12:55 man next summer, and that's certainly going to put him in the medals and in with a real chance of gold.
