Yes exactly! Bring on Molly And Jordon
wow I didn't know Desi had been throwing this big of a temper tantrum all along. She sounds so selfish here.
She acts as if the Hansons should have asked her permission first. You aren't that important, Desi, get over yourself. Adults have to deal with coworkers they don't like all the time. Happens in every job, every company, every pro sport.
If she did this in any other job, she would have been fired. This type of behavior in the NFL is what gets you released from a team and then nobody else wants to sign you because you are a cancer. She's not a team player.
I have a feeling she's going to lose a lot of fans because of this.
From what I was told Desi wanted input on every new signee. She views herself like Lebron James. This is all a big temper tantrum and she doesn't realize that this will effect her image. I am surprised that Brooks would allow her to make herself less likeable? She needed an adult to step in and help her make the right decision. She is now damaging herself as a spokesperson.
sounds like the hansens are better off without her, good riddance! would not be surprised to see everyone else in the group improve a lot now that she's gone. she probably sucked all the attention away from everyone else and created drama.

lol.... i like desi but this line is unintentionally funny....... "She got lucky in Boston but now thinks she’s a world beater. Blue coller my rear" ..... dude, the textbook definition of blue collar is getting by on luck and being arrogant.. so by saying she got lucky and thinks she is now a world beater to me makes her blue collar!

I agree. I’m really tired of these runners throwing tantrums. There is no evidence anything be has done anything wrong. Been going on way too long while other runners are getting blamed and persecuted by media and public.
Desi, Kara and Shalane should mind their business. I can’t wait till Molly and Jordan take over! They have class!
Sorry, but Kara is joke. Waits till she's gone and THEN makes accusations that may or may not be true. It's just her way of saying, "look over here, remember me?" Attention monger to the max!

No, the textbook definition of blue collar is not getting by on luck and being arrogant. Try again ole' fella:)

I'm not surprised. Their training methods are worthless.
Well that's just a nice, ignorant comment.
Their training methods are not worthless. Where did you come up with that conclusion? The Hanson Group doesn't get the top level NCAA champs right out of college, they go elsewhere. Do you know what their training program consists of? I do and definitely think they're doing fine. Malhasky just got 7th in the 10,000 2 days ago and he's coming back from an injury. I'd say he's a new guy and he's doing really well.

I just find it very suspicious that three Americans (Ritz, Solinsky, Rupp) miraculously had major breakthroughs in 2009-2010 to break 13 minutes, and 27 minutes, and 1:00:00 for the half, and only one of them is still showing anything close to that sort of form.
The youngest one.

How about this rumor and association about American citizens: they have the right to a fair and speedy public trial and are innocent until until proven guilty?
Trump is actually a racist.
His father was a KKK member, too.
Keep trying.
This is the End of the Hanson's Distance Project.

.
So the other people in the group who aren't near her level are doing poorly because of her? I doubt they'll ever be good then. How does she affect their training?
Also I don't get how Des is a Prima Donna? If anything she was asked about her thoughts of Ritz and she downplayed the rift within the group. Then she largely trained on her own (with everything the Hansons taught her), wins Boston, and she is just supposed to stay in the group for appearances? They had great success together. They wouldn't have won Boston without one another, but the rift is there.
I don't have a problem with her moving on. This isn't a marriage.

Why can't we just accept the statements of Des and Hansons?
Hansons said that she no longer needs development. That is 100% true. I believe that Des is in a different place today than in the past. When she finished 2nd at Boston in 2011 she was highly motivated to improve and went on to run 31:30 and 15:08 that summer. That is not her mindset today. She ran 35:12 at the NYRR Mini and will be racing today at the BAA 10k. She is in victory tour mode and I don't blame her but what does she need from the Hansons.
Great time for separation.
AKMarmoset said: Well, I know it's been a while but Brian Sell had a very good career, and you would lose an argument claiming that the Hanson's did poorly with the size of their program and the athletes in their stable.
obviously reading isn't your strong point, so I feel obliged to point out that the question was not whether they had done well with the size of their program. the question was, what have their results been over the years?
your fact-free response was not an answer to that question. Brian Sell, the only name you mention, finished 3rd in the OT marathon and was 22nd in the OG in 2:16. he won a couple of no-name 10k road races in 29:xx and then diasappeared. that was eight years ago. one of their more recent recruits finished 7th in USATF 10,000m this week. anything else?
perhaps you'd like to have another go. what have their results been, over the years?
cheers.
Is it necessary to take a shot at my reading comprehension? Okay though, fair point, I read into your question a little bit in my response, because I understood the point was to make a value judgment on the program. So like comparing countries at the Olympics, and factoring in their size, I factored in the size of the Hanson's. But I acknowledge that you weren't asking for that.
Sell won at least two US titles on the roads, was 9th at the World Championship marathon, 4th at Boston, and his OT 3rd was over Meb and KK et al. Given his background as an athlete I think that's a tremendous career, and if you disagree that's okay.
Besides Desi I acknowledge they haven't been churning out other world-beaters. I think they did a good job getting into US champs finals consistently for a while. But if you put them up directly against NOP, OTC, some other groups you're right about their results.
I never understood why the Hansons even exist. Everyone knows that it's a terrible coaching situation and they only get athletes because of the connection to Brooks. It that ends tomorrow, nobody would wnat to be coached by the Hansons.
38:27 this morning at BAA 10k

I’m thinking Bowerman Babe , a little glow up , hair dyed blonde and she will be one of the girl gang . I bet Kate Grace will even let her ride shotgun in her convertible mustang
She could be the sort of fun odd girl....the one with the whiskey and coffee.
I’m confused. I thought the Hanson’s were Desi’s coaches, and that her sponsorship was through Brooks, which she’s continuing. So she’s choosing to leave her coaches - why are people behaving as though she’s committing some sort of betrayal? Athletes change coaches. It happens.
