My hope is Beasts.
But my guess is OTC.
No way Brooks can get someone that good out of the NCAA. They have yet to sign anyone of this caliber out of college.

Indoor...
I think he's talking about a real medal or final (outdoor), where half the sport doesn't completely skip it.
Traditionally yes, though this year was different because there is not a World championships this year aside from Birmingham. The fields were better than most world indoor meets. Anyway, I think Mackey would do a good job with Kerr. If you follow the group, they improve and are consistent. But Brooks does not do a good job with talent indentifcation or they don’t have money. My bet is Kerr will go with New Balance or Reebok. The Beasts sign second rung talent and try to develop that, nothing wrong with it, but no way they land Kerr. Second guess is any Nike group. Maybe train with Murphy?

NOP
It seems an oddity to go pro after talking smack about winning in a special way because winning isn't enough, then getting 3rd at NCAAs.

I was very surprised to see the announcement of Kerr turning pro because his post-race interviews made it seems like was returning next year. He was even asked about turning pro and said something along the lines of “there are thoughts about turning pro but the opportunity isn’t there and there is more that I want to accomplish at the NCAA level.

You live under a rock.
Rupp has been accused of taking testosterone (a PED), NOP has been accused of illegal injections (more than allowed, making it in fact a PED), Salazar admitted to rubbing testosterone cream on his son and is accused of rubbing it on his athletes.
Brooks Beasts. It's a done deal. I hate how this board speculates about things that they have no idea.
There are at least 4 threads going right now that I know personally that are blatantly wrong. This is one.

Agreed. Why go pro in a year like this? CWG are long over, and all he has is the Euro Champs.
I think it makes a lot of sense for underclassmen to go pro this year. Next year's world champs aren't until October. Can you imagine running a collegiate season and then having to continue being in top shape until October? It would be much easier to make delay the start of your season to go with the WC calendar rather than trying to fit in an ncaa season and then hold on for dear life.

This is almost completely wrong. There is one highly controversial and unverifiable reference to Rupp taking something testosterone-related. By “Illegal injections” you actually mean excessively large IVs of legal substances, which is a rules violation, but NOT “in fact a PED”. And there is no evidence or claim by any observer that Salazar used testosterone cream on anyone other than his son.
No more talk about Brooks Beasts not being super well funded. The MINIMUM contract they offer is $40,000 for 3 years. Several making $75,000. When dust settles this year, they’ll have 14-18 athletes. And they pay Danny a real salary too.
But the problem is the strangkehold Bowerman, NOP, and a couple individuals has on National team rosters.
I can't help but get feeling that Josh Kerr is going to have a career trajectory like Andrew Wheating. Probably come out with a dazzling race or two, and never find that form again.
I have a few questions with your numbers.
Does that $40k include housing in Seattle or does that need to come out of the 40k? What about altitude training trips? Is that paid for by Brooks or does that come out of the 40k?
Are they given a travel allotment?
Your numbers are fuzzy.
The Brooks Beasts have average talent, and produce average results. If you are too lazy to go look up their results over the last two years then thats on you. For their investment the group doesn't produce much, but may be the nicest group of any of the training groups. The way that Danny Mackey trains athletes is inconsistent with what has made Josh Kerr successful. The statement that Josh might be the next Andrew Wheating is accurate. Pro contracts have changed in the last couple of years. More money flowing to athletes which is good. Not sure why someone would turn pro when they are having success but someone on this board said New Mexico may drop men's track. That would be a good reason to get out.

The bolded statement is so dumb and illogical that it discredits anything else you might have to say.
I love Brooks and I hope you are wrong and Brooks doesn't sign him.
Brooks has a recipe. Take no names like Drew Windle, Des Linden and Brian Sell and turn them into World Class. When they leave this recipe it fails. Ritz doesn't make it to the starting line and Nick Symmonds cost people their jobs. Angela Bizzarri was a perfect example.
The 2 weeks of publicity will be outweighed by the next 3 years of failures.
I don't know why they can't see this. They have been so smart with product but so stupid with athletes.
I like Mackey and the Beasts, not the flashest group but people improve and a 3:35 athlete coming in will be a good starting point. Plus the group is even, Tonn and Health did well the 10k, Windle made worlds/medaled in the 800, when Loxsom was there he made teams, K Mackey won a DL 3,000, made a team. Yorks and Wynne are chipping away in the mile/1500. Nothing like the BAC but you can’t say they are not legit. I would be nice for them to get an American star. Someone said this but the stranglehold the the Nike groups have is impressive, they get all the NCAA champions. I can’t think of one athlete on the Beasts roster, aside from Henry Wynne indoors as an underclassmen (but he was awful his senior year) that won NCAAs in college? Am I missing someone? Where is Knight going? No one is talking about Reebok right now. Purrier? Karissa?

Jess and Garrett have run one solid 10k in Palo Alto with perfect conditions. We have no idea whether or not they can handle a race 10k.

Why on earth if you are Josh Kerr would you involve yourself with a group that is universally linked to doping and tarnish the great reputation you have built so far, especially when there is little to suggest they are better than many of the top groups out there? Even if you were guaranteed olympic gold I still wouldn't do it. As great as Centro is his legacy will always be tied to a group that pushes drugs on their athletes. Run as far away from NOP as you can Josh. Protect your reputation its the only thing you have.
Because dopers win medals, races, and make money. Being clean means you guarantee yourself that you will never see the podium.
It's better to win and bask in the limelight and IF you get caught 5-10 years later then who cares because you are long past your prime and you've already made your money.
NCAAs, IMO is as good as it gets for Josh Kerr. He's big and kind of fat. He has only 1:48.xx 800m speed. Not fast enough pure speed. He's too large to move up and do well in 5000m.
