Julien Wanders vs Sondre Moen, Olso 10000m

My money is on Sondre Moen.

Moen is also going for Marti Vaino of Finland's 27:30 Nordic/Scandinavian record, I am surprised they don't have a lot of fast runners to pull them to a fast time, maybe they want Moen or Wanders to win and hopefully dip under 27:30, rather than see Moen or Wanders run 27:15-20 and get 8-10th place.

If they ran 27:15 they would be 4th or 5th in a loaded 10000 nowadays.

Rupp's PR at Wanders age was 27:33 i believe. The Swiss will be progressing well if he can match that.

It was originally set up for Moen to break the Norwegian record, but as he struggles with his fitness because of the troubles he had this winter he has realised it is not going to happen.

I hope there will be a way to watch this. I enjoy both runners.

Remember when Wanders dusted a bunch of 27 ' guys in Valencia a couple months ago (Özbilen, Chelanga, Mokoka, Osako)?

Unfortunately, my money is on Wanders. Moen has 13:42 from a meet earlier this year.

At the moment the shape of Julien is better than the shape of Sondre, who during the last month saw his efficiency growing, but is still far from his shape of the second part of the past season.

However, the real problem is the temperature : at the time of the race (7:10pm) the previews give 24C increasing to 26C at the end. But the funny thing is that it seems the temperature could continue to increase, overtaking 28C at the time of the Dream Mile (9:50pm).

This is of sure an abnormal situation for Oslo in this period of the year, and, looking at what happens in Kenya (two months of continue rain), it's a clear demonstration that Trump is the only person thinking the global weather didn't change during the last 5 years....

It's been pretty cool here in Oslo today, after what seems like weeks of near 30C weather (highly unusual here in May). But Bislett is a few days away, the forecast usually isn't that precise. I'm gonna be pretty surprised if it rises to 28C at 10 pm.

Renato, genuine question here...do you have any information on whether there is truth to Asbel Kiprop being potentially not guilty?

I am a huge Kiprop fan, and am hoping that somehow his story is accurate, and there was some kind of malicious intent on the testers' part. Any response or insight is appreciated.

As a fan of his who lives in Switzerland, sadly he hasn't reached Victor Röthlin levels of fame yet. Even most of my running friends have no idea who he is. He doesn't seem much interested in racing locally, whereas Victor took on the Africans living in Switzerland all the time. Wanders is still in early days (hopefully) so his Swiss following may grow still.

What mountain races are your doing in switzerland?

Wanders beat Moen in Belgium over the 5000m one week ago. I would bet on Wanders, even though Moen is a better half and marathon guy he isn't so fast and hasn't too much raw speed. Wander's almost run a sub 28 on the road last year in Houilles (France) which is a pretty slow race.

Usually hit one or two of the Marathons in summer, one of them almost always being the Jungfrau. Apart from that, I've done nearly all the Juratoptour events and a lot of the events in the Berner Oberland over the years. Few of the big ones in Valais as well (Sierre-Zinal, Tour des Alpages, Thyon-Dixence, etc.).

Wanders is more focused on road running. His half marathon is currently pretty impressive.
