My guess is it's set up for Moen to get the Norwegian record (I believe he has said that's a goal in interviews before). Not really any big names in the field. Only 1 Kenyan, with a 1:00:07 half PR and 28:17 road 10k and he might be the rabbit.
The Norwegian record is 27:32.52, by Are Nakkim way back in 1990 (also at the Bislett Games).
Moen has a slighly better road 10K PR, 27:55 vs Wanders' 28:02. Neither has broken 28 on the track before, Wanders 28:06 and Moen 28:15 (both set last year).
Daniele Meucci, Andy Vernon and Arne Gabius are also in the field. Vernon has a 27:52 from this year already. While Meucci has the fastest time on paper (27:32), he hasn't gone sub-28 since 2012. Gabius also has a decent PR (27:43), but hasn't raced on the track since 2015.
It was originally set up for Moen to break the Norwegian record, but as he struggles with his fitness because of the troubles he had this winter he has realised it is not going to happen.
