If you were the Doha meet promoter would you want a 1:42 Olympic medalist or would you want a guy who can't make his national team at 1500m? Murphy has great credentials at 800m internationally. He has no credentials internationally at 1500.

....So I guess Rotich should bail too.??
And what's with the BS times you've shown for 2018?
Kszczgot: 1:46.xx
Manangoi: no 800s yet this year
Korir: 1:44.21
Kipyegon: 1:44.xx
Your post and premise is BS.
Your post has no accurate stats.
It's spring.
Murphy hasn't raced much in the past year.
No one on your list has an equal credential, and only one, Rotich has gone faster, ever, and he's at 1:48.xx in 2018.
You're a doooooosh.
This trip will get him prepared for running in Doha at the World Champs in 2019. He's already accustomed to running in Eugene, site of the World Champs in 2021 (both won through corruption). He's not ready for the competition, because he's not close to full strength yet. I don't know if he will get to full strength with NOP, but I hope so. In the past, he's been fast enough to run a low to mid 46 open and he just ran a hair under 48, plus a 1:47 when he's run 1:42.9 and high 1:43 in April.
I think there's a chance, however, that he can run 1:45 and will probably run 1:46, which will be mid pack--no shame in that.

You sound kinda dooshy yourself. Did you know that Rotich ran that in February you jagoon? Murphy just ran 1:47. Do you know anything about running?

not a cupcake field this year either. Big dogs are ready to eat
Last place. 1:49.
Look at Rotich, his season best is only 1:48, mo Ahmed 1:47.3 Sb
He’s not the only one who hasn’t thrown down a fast time yet. Chill
murphy is coming back. his trajectory could be upward if he's "right".
47 high with aerobic conditioning means you can run a decent 800.
then again, if your not 100 percent, that is a long straight to run after a quick 6.
i would say 144 to 146 is equally probable, and in the perfect race, where everyone goes a second faster, that means a 143 is possible.
murphy coaches know that you don't peak early so a 145 will be a very fine result.

Uhm, yeah, a little.
Rotich ran a 1:48.53 in February and your point is that Murphy, who ran a 1:47.22, also in February is not as prepared.
You list some fine athletes withtheir PR's and there supposed season bests.
You listed Rotich, who is slower this year than Murphy.
You list Manangoi as proof, but he hasn't even run an 800 this year, only a 1500.
You list Korir, Kipyegon, and Kszczgot as further proof of their superior 2018 times, but they are all inaccurate.
So, yes, I'll stand by my assessment that your premise is flawed, your examples are false, and that you are still a douche.

In 2016 he improved to a 1:42.
In 2017 he injured himself and missed worlds.
By definition they do NOT know what they are doing with Murphy.
Breaking him like they broke Levins. Sad!

You don’t keep up with the sport very well and then try and tell me NOP no matter what they do in the “grey area” don’t know what they’re doing lol. If you actually followed the sport you’d know NOP had nothing to do with his injuries last year, and he joined them starting in September, his injuries were before that.... try to be more informed in the future please
"Why go all the way to Doha for that? "
Money will be a factor, of course. But if he is aiming for a very good 1500 later in the year a few quality 800s at this point in the season will be very beneficial. If he doesn't follow the usual mad Diamond League pace over the first 200-300 he could end up placing towards the front end of the field running sub 1:46. Not a bad opener in anyone's first serious race of the year?
Exactly how do you propose that Murphy gets race fit and improves his performances this year? Train in a bunker and then just appear ready to run 1:42 in his first outing?
Murphy had one outdoor race this year, 1:47 isn't great but we have no idea about how heavy his training week was leading into that race. According to your list, Rotich has only run 1:48.5 this season!
He goes to Doha, aims for a sub 1:46 and mixing with some of the big boys and it's a good pro season opener.
I don't understand some posters on this site, one bad race and suddenly an athlete is 'done'. I'm glad you aren't a meet promoter/director anyway, otherwise no athletes would be invited. I'm pretty sure WL right now is 1:44 high and the Commonwealths were won in 1:45.
