Pacers.
Pacers.
Bekele is just not a good marathoner.
He's got enough in the bank. Pay one if the other elites $10,000 to pace him for 35km at his desired pace.
Otherwise either run faster or run your own pace.

Lol. Guy with 2nd fastest time ever is not “good” at it. I guesss your name must be Dennis?
Both are one-hit wonders.
Check the resume of a guy like Kipchoge, Gebrselassie or Kipsang and get back to me.
Bekele is not consistent. He is a lot like Kimetto.
At least he gave a post race interview.
In all fairness his 2:05 debut in Paris was amazing. He also ran 2:06 in 2016 and 2017 in London I think.
He got unlucky in Dubai last year. And of course his 2:03:02 in Berlin shut up a lot of people.
It's not really about being a one hit wonder, it's more like why bother running 2:06-2:08 when the only thing left for you is running 2:02:56 or better? Of course we don't like to see him dropping out but that's his choice.
In the Mombassa Cross country years ago he dropped out even when the Silver medal was pretty much guaranteed. He just doesn't run for anything other than the win.

I am always astounded out of the terrible of sound quality everyone manages to produce for these interviews. With relatively little money, you can go a long way. These HS, College, Pro, etc. interviews are all so hard to hear—it's like they use microphones that jack up the volume of everything that's not within 1 foot of the mic. The year is 2018, if you can't do a good job, it's nothing more then pure laziness.
Definitely, and I've posted the same thing previously, but apparently these people are clueless.

I disagree... like he said in his post race that he wanted to go out in the 61:45 group but was worried there weren’t actually pacemakers going that pace...maybe for him, a negative split is more likely than holding on. We saw it in the 2013 great north run and his 2:03 Berlin Marathon where he kept a more steady pace.
even going back to his 5,000 wr he progressively got faster so maybe that style of race works better for him

Not a good example. Half the field dropped out. It was EXTREMELY hot, one of the hottest and most humid championship distance races ever. He was nearly passed out on his feet. It is not shocking he dropped in such circumstances. Probably heat exhaustion. He thought was finishing final lap and was confused, dazed, and wobbling.
And there have been plenty of other races where he still ran hard even when beaten and not his GOAT self- He tried valiantly on the last lap in London OG to catch Mo, Rupp, and his bro, and just didn't have the fitness. In several marathons he's run hard through the final miles even when beaten. He doesn't just give up when beaten. Not true. But sure, all all time greats go for the win. This is what they expect.
The pacers are the problem. Boston this year was incredibly exciting because it was just the racers racing.
Bekele is one of my favorite runners. I hate to say it but he is past his prime. I think Bekele has run at such a high level for so many years his body is just tired. He was already a world champ long before Mo really started training. He should forget about the WR and just run some races where he can win.

Buy this microphone:
http://a.co/14GSKg2Connect it to your camera. It picks up the voice in front and directly behind the mic. It also attenuates wind noise. It's less than $30 US, but it has hundreds of positive reviews on Amazon and YouTube. Great mic, dirt cheap. You're welcome, and we all thank you for using it.
You can't plug a microphone into most consumer camcorders, particularly not cheap ones. If they had a good enough camera it would mean they had spent more and probably would have already got a microphone.
I don't eat cornflakes. I came here to eat Banana Bread and kick ass, and I'm all out of Banana Bread.

He wanted a 2nd group but there was no organised 2nd group he said.
It was mentioned in one of the Mo Farah interviews that there was supposed to be a 1:01:45 half group in addition to that 1:01:00 group but Mo said that everybody just went fast and followed the leaders. So there were no runners for this 2nd group. I do not know who is telling the truth.

Kenenisa Bekele (Ethiopia) placed 6th at the London marathon.
Scott Smith (Northern Arizona Elite-Flagstaff, Az.) placed 6th at the Boston marathon.
Ergo, Kenenisa Bekele = Scott Smith
Oh well.
It's not a big surprise.

I am a huge Bekele fan and I do not want to agree with you. However if you are just speaking of marathons then maybe I can agree with you. If you include track and xc then you don't understand what consistency is.

I disagree. Whatever they are using, it has a microphone input.
get a decent microphone pls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
