Isn't this all leading to Rupp vs Mo in Tokyo 2020?

Mo should retire, he has no chance of winning any of the marathons except the B-level so-called "majors" that the fastest runners avoid. He won't be able to handle not winning, even in Britain where the hero worship thing will quickly wear thin when he is always at least 4 minutes out of 1st.
Same deal with Rupp, who also should have quit on a high note. If you're going to compete at a lower level for years after winning it all, at least pick your best events. Rupp was about the best 10,000 runner in the world, and "moved up" to an event where he's about #100.
Has it ever crossed your mind that people, including Rupp and Farah, enjoy running and competing and the new challenges? And of course the added bonus for R and F is big dollars and recognition, something basement dwelling hobby joggers can only dream about.
Best odds have Kipchoge at 55%, wow.

His half pb is 59.22 so 61.30 paced and he should be easy at that stage. How much is he going to lose in the second half? He has several mins in hand for his target of the UK record.
I didn't mention anything about a particular time. It's just that going out at a faster pace, even for just the first 5k, is a sub-optimal strategy for running your best time in a marathon. It's clear he's going for time and not the win. He should sit back on a hot pace from the start if he wants to comfortably get the British record. I don't care if he does or doesn't get that record, but his poorly thought out strategy of, "yeah, I guess I'll go with them no matter what, why not?" is idiotic.
This is the basic strategy of most Kenyans.

What new challenges? They're not even trying to be the world's best marathoners. If that's not the challenge, they're not going to get big bucks for long. Setting aside that they're both already too rich to have much incentive.
If they have left anything undone, it is middle distance. Rupp ran a 3:50i solo, and Mo ran 3:28, albeit at Monaco. Why don't they want to find out what they can do with event-specific training?

"What new challenges?" - (Sigh) The marathon.

Why do I bother? (Sigh)
Yes, why bother trying to deflect from the question: If they are not trying to win the marathon, in what way are they challenging themselves? What kind of 10,000 top elite sets their marathon bar that low?
If you ran sub 26:50, but you aren't even thinking of going 2:05 or faster, then you are not trying.

"If they are not trying to win the marathon..."
WTF, which marathon are they not trying to win and, apart from you, who says they are not trying to win whatever marathon that is?

A tip for you pal, don't ask questions if you don't think you're going to like the answers.

Mate, have you read the subject heading of the thread you're posting on and made yourself aware of who the quote is from?, it suggests to me he is "thinking of going 2:05 or faster".
Mo is slow. Slow mo.
Beeb just showed an interview clip with Crammie where Mo said he'd be pleased with the UK rec (low 2.07s) and a European rec (2.05) would be 'amazing' so sounds like that's his upper target time. I wonder if they knew the forecast temps when they recorded that? I just went for a run this morning and I was cooked. And I'm the other end of the country. Due to be 18 Celsius at 10am and that isn't good although as his current pb is pretty soft maybe not a showstopper to at least improve it.
How hot was the 2014 race?

He also 'admitted' his tactical mistake in 2014 in sitting off the pace saying you can't give them 30s then try to make it up. Sounds like bs though, he wasn't fast enough to make the gap up anyway.
Guys, here in the UK we now have rain forecast over night and around 18-19 degrees at start of race. Good news!

What does it say about a country if one person can hold records for every distance from 1500m to the marathon? Embarrassing.
Yet again a lingering racist tone....
Once again, the term "RACIST" is used so often now that it's lost all meaning.
The real racist may be Cuckoo-Land himself. I felt a lingering racist tone in his post.

What's so good about that?, it'll rain overnight, the sun will come up and at 10am there'll be high humidity as well as heat.
whats he thinking lol
His first goal is Steve Jones’s British marathon record of 2hr 7min 13sec, which has stood for 33 years. However, if the weather gods are kinder than forecast, Farah will also aim to better the European record of 2:05:48. This week, he boldly predicted he could run 2:04 or 2:03 in the future, which would lift him into the marathon stratosphere.
