it's on instagram live. pay more attention. follow tyler c andrews.
but yeah, needs more Hoka involvement online.
FYI, now 9 seconds under WR pace at 28k. WR is 2:43:38, AR is 2:43:45. Track record is 2:50 or something so he will most likely still get some kind of WR
it's 63 degrees in Santa Barbara right now, and there are reports of wind.
just hit 32k which means the last rabbit should be dropping right now and he's on his own.
last 2k in 6:46... definitely slowing now (38k)

Yup. He may have hit the wall.
apparently wind is minimal but it's getting warm.
Pace is now slipping, he's 5 seconds behind pace at 38k. Not surprisingly, this is the toughest part of a 50k. Feels easy until 22, then the fridge hops on your back.
40k at 2:11:17. I think Josh Cox will sleep well tonight.
A guy running by himself around a track at an obscure distance defines a stunt.
Next up: the world 50k juggling record.
Actually, this is the most legitimate of the stunts he has attempted. He usually goes for something treadmill related.
44k at 2:24:59.

I really enjoyed reading all the exciting analysis here on Tyler.
I loved the podcast on Tyler.
I listened to it 12 times.
+ infinity on the analysis

Wait until you hear the podcast for the juggling record and how aerodynamics analysis played a role in designing the perfect juggling object.
46k at 2:32:07. The track WR might go down, but who knows.
Yeah props to Tyler for working his ass off and becoming a pretty damn good runner, but I can easily see why he rubs some people the wrong way. I used to follow his log a lot a few years ago, and it's clear he doesn't have much integrity when it comes to reporting his training and racing. He would do these blatantly unbelievable workouts, run downhill races and note them as prs without any mention of the courses being downhill, and one time he even noted a race time in his log that was 40 seconds faster than what he actually ran (in a 5k no less). I'll never understand why a genuinely accomplished runner would feel the need to exaggerate his accomplishments like this.

the only purpose for the 50km's existence is to allow people to inch past the marathon
and call themselves ultramarathoners.
it is not competed at the top level,
and will not be in the forseeable future.
to have a "record" for that distance is something of a farce.
tyler andrews is probably a good guy,
and his sub 2:17 marathon best would be envied by most.
but he is not a world record class athlete....
well, he does have a treadmill "world record"
which sort of tells you where the 50km world record rates.
it simply does not warrant being included in the list of world records.

Is that certied for a trials qualifier?
Proper marathon athletes need to present themselves via beastly performances, not words and promises they can't keep (leave the politicians to that)
Marathoners get respect by talking with their legs, not mouth/instagram/etc. Attempts to skirt this rule can have negative effects.
Although not sure why Letsrun has singled out AT, he seems somewhat more legit and hardworking than some other runners who talk and advertise themselves at least as much if not more. At least he seems to be focused on trying to run fast and getting attention for that. Better than the "finisher" types who try to get as much credit for subpar performances as those who put in the proper effort to prepare and perform well.
2:18:42 at the marathon. That's a BQ I think.
Fading, won't get the overall record but will get the 50,000m record (track record)
gonna be 2:45:50 or so.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
