Yeah that looks right. Coming out of the SSE. I'd take that weather. Of course I've spent all winter training in Rochester, NY so anything above freezing looks good to me at this point.

Do you think I'll need shoes?

Get a very large sized garbage bag. Make a hole for your face/head and wear that. It'll block the rain and the wind while you wait to start the race. Wear a throw away long sleeve t-shirt or two. I always save socks with holes in them to use for throw away mittens. There are usually cottonish type gloves given away at the expo.
Use a ton of vaseline if it is raining hard. Grease up your nipples, toes, thighs and anywhere else that tends to chafe. Put vaseline on when you get dressed and apply another layer right before the start. Do a nipple check every once in a while. If they hurt then pick up some vaseline at a med tent on the course. Bloody nipples are the worst.
Good luck everyone.

agree.. garbage bag is a great idea
but vaseline? really?
who uses vaseline when there are a number of much better products out there? Body Glide, asics chafe-free, etc...

If I'm looking at this correctly I see 45-50, rain, 10mph crosswind.
That's what it's showing. The hope is that slides to the left 6 hours or more so the rain is mostly passed by race time, but so far it hasn't changed from yesterday.
As of this morning: 56/42F and 90% chance of rain. 23 MPH winds out of the ESE. Victory at sea boys.... yieeeewwwww!
It isn't expected to be raining "heavy" before the race - if you bring a garbage bag, make sure it's transparent. Some police may make you remove it.
Wear a hat to keep rain out of your face.
If the temperatures approach 60 or above, you won't need many (or any) layers. The rain right now is forecast to be light - if you are running 3 hours or under, it should barely affect you. Those who are hitting closer to 4 hours, will notice it.
The wind - is the wind.
I suggest band-aids over the nipples. Easier to guarantee you won't chafe there.
Body-glide usually does the trick as well for the rest of your body. Just rub it everywhere.
Accuweather currently has the forecast as occasional light rain during the day with winds out of the SSE at 14 mph with gusts up to 22 mph. This forecast doesn't sound too bad, relatively speaking.
vaseline works about as well as that other, overpriced, stuff. Also, on a day like Patriots Day is shaping up to be not only do I put it on likely chafe spots I also rub some into my legs arms and shoulders. Just enough to act as a bit of a 'seal' against that cold rain and wind. Shorts/singlet.

sure it 'works' but it also stains clothing and is hard to wash off...
the modern products don't stain and come off with soap and water.. either alone is worth paying for
This is only my 2nd marathon and I've never run in these conditions so please go easy on me when I ask this follow-up question... Is a windbreaker (or waterproof running jacket) a bad idea because it will slow you down or overheat you, or is it just considered wimpy/not cool? I'm hoping to finish around 3:15, if that is a factor. Thanks!
It is an individual thing, but most runners at MP in 45 degree temps would sweat a lot wearing a windbreaker. Seeing as a big issue with a successful marathon can be staying hydrated, it is probably preferable to be a little cool than to be sweating up a storm under a wind breaker. My 2 fastest marathons have come in 40s and light rain and I wore split shorts, a singlet, gloves and compression socks.
How am I going to dress?
The way I always do. Start by putting on my shorts, left leg first, then take the singlet......
Does you mommy still dress you?

You are NOT 40 years old.

At 44 degrees and rain, you'll need more than a singlet. I would suggest a windbreaker. Shorts are fine.
a windbreaker? seriously? you planning on finishing under 5 hours?
I was undoubtably doubted at my suggestion!
Female Winner, what was she wearing? Windbreaker and shorts!

and i agree. i ran maine a few years ago in 40 pouring rain and wore shorts, a singlet, waterproof gloves and a ball cap and it was perfect.
Who's laughing now!

I'm ashamed I bought into this. I left my hobby jogger windbreaker at home. Desi's windbreaker shares the win.
