Tramadol OD or congenital heart defect are two best odds given the sport. If it was Tramadol maybe they’ll finally ban it. It’s long overdue.

The most likely a guy in my group found out he had this in 40's and could have dropped anytime ( he did go s bit pale when exerted I and I know of a teen cyclist same thing. It can be difficult to diagnose and is not routinely screwed for. The teen cyclist was a tragic case his gran is friends with my mum. No drug use was found
A premier league football died from this s few years ago and he'd not been diagnosed despite them having extensive health checks every time they sign to a new club
Glad to hear things have stabilized. I've got right ventricular hypertrophy (validated with 3d ultrasound), benign premature ventricular contractions and an "unusual" EKG according my Doc...but he says none of this is anything to worry about! And like you say, Docs tend not to ask patients to exercise less.
Don't be a victim of your genes! Epigenetic switches can be far more powerful, and given a healthy lifestyle i'm pretty confident you can avoid the fate of your grandfather/uncle. Now prostate cancer and Alzheimer's, that's a trickier issue....

My guess as well. A much larger percentage of people have issues with their heart than they are aware of. The issues never rise to the surface until moments of extreme exhaustion.
Is there any way to know you have a defect? I've never been diagnosed but my mother use to have tachycardia issues. Do I just ask my doctor to test me or something? I've run fast times on the track (mid 3:40 1500) and haven't had any issues that I can recall. This is one of my biggest fears. Just going on a run and collapsing in some field.

Get your ticker tested by a doctor. I had an odd rhythm in my heartbeat and my doctor said there was a chance I had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I got an EKG test (I think it was) and thankfully it came back negative.

Tramadol is what suspected. It is a plague among cyclists at present.
It is important to remember that not all patients with severe aortic stenosis suffer obvious symptoms, however on more in-depth questioning, it is often found that the patient’s activity levels have declined over time without them realizing.
i dont think theyre microdosing,at all.thats a myth.theyre doping as much as they always have, although probably not in such high doses as in the early 90s.meanwhile we dont know if it was drugs that killed this poor young man.
Uhh, pretty sure it's a tragedy.
And I bet he passed every doping test right?
