I had a cough for 6 weeks after my flu. DO you have a dry cough? IF it's filled with phlem still it means your body is sick, though not necessarily contagious or weakened anymore.
I was given predniscone for 5 days and it killed the dry cough.

Post infection cough can last for several weeks after a respiratory infection, sometimes as long as 6-8 weeks

Take one teaspoon of baking soda in 6-8 ounces of water every hour until fever breaks.......This really works...I had the flu for only 1 day with this remedy....This is a cure created by Edgar Cayce....
The main ingredient in the medicine 'Airborn' is baking soda...
P.S.....Don't eat or drink anything else during this time....
You didn't have the flu
Every muscle in my body ached, It was an effort to get out of bed.....I've had the flu many times and this was the flue.....
Keep in mind that the Cayce readings were almost always for individual cases.
Also, drinking anything while one has gastrointestinal flu w/vomiting doesn't quite work!
The readings also mention colonics for cleaning the colon. Incomplete eliminations (in colon, liver, etc.), were listed as a major contributor to susceptibility to the flu.
Also, my flu never lasts longer than 1 day, & I've never taken the baking soda solution. But the fatigue & cough can last for weeks.
Sounds like bronchitis, which lasts 4-6 weeks. I'm not a doctor though and not qualified to make medical diagnosis. Maybe you should see one.

Well, thanks to everyone letting me know what to expect. I ran 6 miles on a treadmill today and didn’t have any extended coughing fits until after I was done, which I was happy about. Did some strength/lifting afterwards and felt more tired than I normally do, which sounds like it’s to be expected based on everyone else’s experiences.
You should stop running for a few weeks because flu can infect your heart. It can raise your heart rate, cause arrythmias, cardiomyopathy, and death. Take it easy when you have the flu. It's serious.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
