Mick O'Shea had the hot hand for Providence - Treacy came a year or two later.
In the '77 New Englands, John Treacy won the 5-mile race at Franklin Park in 22 minutes and change. Quinn from UMass was 4th or 5th, also under 23:00. These were the days of balls-out XC from the gun.
I don't know/remember whether Providence ran the IC4A championships in 1977. If they did, UMass most certainly beat them, as they were champs.
As for John Legere, he's a fan and he's probably checking this thread. Only he can tell us his on-track achievements.
Hey Jay, how's it going? Is the Blue Wall still there? Let's put on our Aluminum Foil hats and go have some brews with Benb.
Well, I was in that '77 race, back in 20th.
Tracy edged Deegan also from Providence 22:47 to 22:49, no one else broke 23:00, loaded race for sure, John Flora, Quinn, Dillon, I think Bickford was in there,my teammate was 9th in 23:48.
