You are a temp. She does sound unappreciative...you can always just leave early and just say you don't have time to fit it in.

you sound like a very nice guy, and i bet you are.
But as simple as this appears, there's a lot going on. Like maybe she appreciates it but doesn't want to encourage attention of a personal nature. And added to the fact that amongst that generation, thank you notes are not the norm, she just may be siding on the conservative side.
But I can tell you one thing for sure. Work is for most of us a place you come to put in your time in order to collect the paycheck. Fact is, most people already feel put out just to have to keep showing up. The notion of going out of their way to be civil is more than most would suffer. Face it, most people are there for that reason only. They aren't looking for affirmation.
You apparently are taking some pride in the qualities you have brought to the workplace, and to your credit. But i think you may be in for major disappointment if you want recognition for it. In fact, some co-workers may actually resent someone of that ilk.
In any case, never deserve anything when you bestow a gift. That's not what it's about. If there's more to your expectations regarding your involvement in this workplace, i would examine that in its own right.
Have you confronted her about this issue yet? Or, are you just being passive-aggressive at work now?
You bring up some good points. But I don't think work should be or needs to be a place where you just come in to put time for your paycheck. I am at an age and position in life where really I don't need recognition or to impress anyone with my job. Even at my age, I still can be critical of myself if I don't think I'm meeting my own standards. So in a way I am the one I have to impress.
But you have nailed the work culture here. People leave as soon as they can and are very much into this is not my job and this is not my fault. Not a real sense of team. I was under the delusion that during my short time here maybe I could change that.
My work experience has been that work is personal and it functions best that way. People have different work experiences. Maybe I have been very lucky.

Nah, come on. I don't think she did anything on purpose. She is oblivious.
I think a previous poster explained her well. The lack of even a thank you text, just fit into a whole picture here. It just makes me think how lucky I was for the past 39 years. They were all good people.

You worked at the same place for 39 years? Sheesh. Lack of ambition.

So when I retired, changed jobs and took this temp position, that's a sign of increased ambition.
Thamks for the ego boost!
