Tergat belongs in conversation as he had much slower basic 400 speed than above 2 but best endurance by far of the trio & capable of ~26'15 in his 26'27WR as that was off nonsense ~ 13'18/13'09 splits & he was speeding up last 3k which was run in 7'50 !!! which is 26'06 !!! pace

quite honestly, if Tergat had done the weight-training the other 2 did but weight-training ignored by Kenyan coaches ( see canova's philosophy that hill sprints are all the weight-training you need ???!!! ), he wouda bumped up that 400 speed enormously with little loss of endurance & wouda been looking near 12'30/26-flat
ethiopian coaches understood need for weight-training from the east german coaches who trained them from the '70s onwards, Kenyan ones still don't
example of weight-training boosting Kenyan speed is Korir who in 1y going from Kenya to Texas improved his 400 from ~ 46-flat to 43.34R !!! worth 44-flat open !!!
