That news is supposed to be embargoed until 11 but it is Boston.
Holy sh!t. Shalane vs. Jordan vs. Desi vs. Molly. I couldn't even begin to guess what order they'll finish in. That's really exciting.

Meanwhile, everyone who is not American will be racing London.

I can guess if you won't.
First, I think this is Hasay vs Shalane. NOP vs BTC. Portland vs Portland. The men have battled for years but the women have been restrained. Now it's time to fight.
Desi would need so much to go right, and Molly just doesn't seem up to it in my opinion despite her 2:28 in NYC.
here are Molly's NYC splits compared to Shalane's:
5k 18:41 19:15
10k 35:53 36:55
half 1:13:32 1:16:18
25k 1:27:24 1:30:08
30k 1:44:48 1:47:06
35k 2:02:43 2:03:35
finish 2:28:13 2:26:53
Shalane would've blown by Molly at mile 24 (3 seconds apart) and won by 80 seconds.
How will Shalane react after Jordan destroys her in Boston? She was a very poor sport after Jordan's very impressive Chicago performance, can't wait to see the fireworks!
Funny headline... LOL: Flanagan "leads" the field. If Jordan is healthy at the starting line, and the pace isn't "strategic," then this will not even be close. Jordan by over a minute or two.
Agreed - Hasay should be the top US finisher if they all arrive with their 'A' games. I'd bet that Hasay actually got the highest appearance fee across all US runners.
Shalane is just getting a little extra media due to NYC win, the fact that Boston is her hometown, and because she's about to hang up the shoes. Indeed, it would make a great story if Shalane wins Boston, but odds are low. She'll be lucky if the pace is slow so she can hang with Jordan and Molly up the hills to mile 21.

100% guarantee Boston.
That is what I think, coming off a New York win, there is no way she does not try to win her hometown (Boston) marathon as Boston is EXTREMELY prestigious in the Marathon.
Edna Kiplagat, Bridgid Kosgei (Impressive in Honolulu Today), Molly Huddle and Jordan Hasay will all likely run Boston as well.
Told you, The only 1 that has not been announced is Bridgid Kosgei.

Doug, I don't know why this never occured to me before but are you related to Edmund (Ed) Burke, the assistant coach at American U and OT qualifier in the marathon?
Shalane for the win and will retire if she does. Calling it!
Count me in for Team Jordan.
I must have missed the fact that Jordan is running Boston. Is that confirmed?

She'll most likely retire no matter what the outcome of the race is.

It is probably safe to say that neither Shalane nor Molly will push the pace. Jordan might. I doubt Desi will unless it is absurdly slow. Now if someone else takes it out on 2:18-2:20 pace, I'd assume Jordan would be best equipped to handle it. I do think Molly is dangerous. Comparing her NYC to Shalane's isn't totally fair since it was her first. Jordan's advantage is that she has already shown that she can run extremely well in Boston (and she did it in her first).

Jordan, Molly, Sara Hall..... then Desi and Shalane 5 minutes behind.
Deena is just going to absolutely destroy everyone, won't even be close!
Is there a Kara record at stake here?
